Elaine Ridge
Elaine Ridge has taught English at a variety of high schools in South Africa and the UK. She has wide experience as a teacher educator and curriculum designer at Stellenbosch University and the University of the Western Cape. Her special interest is in materials development and in reading strategies, the topic of her doctoral research. She believes that learners’ success in the literature programme depends on their personal engagement with the set books, their real enjoyment of reading and their growing confidence in their ability to work independently. She has written textbooks for English and compiled anthologies for the CAPS curriculum. She has also written short stories for children.
