About this ebook
The first scene opens at Hailsham. It happens to be a fictional boarding school in England. The teachers in that school are known as guardians. The way they treat their students is quite peculiar.
The teachers constantly remind the students that keeping themselves healthy is of extremely high importance. It is obvious that Hailsham is not a normal boarding school.
The curriculum of the school is also unlike the curriculum of normal schools. The students are constantly encouraged to produce several forms of art. In their education model there is no teaching of life skills. A woman named ‘Madame’ chooses the best artwork produced by the students. When she leaves, she takes the art with her.
