The exercises and games in this easy-to-follow guide are specifically designed to fit the needs of teenagers and to show teens how to work out and train their bodies in a relaxed way. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Although I didn't get this book in it's finished format, I can see that it gives good, straight forward explanations on how to get started with a yoga routine. I would even recommend this book to adults looking for a basic start to yoga.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really enjoyed this book. It was a big hit in my low impact arobic class. It worked out great because there seem to be a lot of partner possing involed and it worked out great inside the class. The book was a great tool to figure out poses that I hadn't tried before. An easy read to understand and to put to use. Would use in a yoga class in a middle school or high school.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5"Yoga Exercises for Teens" is an easy to read and accessible introduction to yoga for young people. The line drawings of teens and the descriptions of the exercises are easy to follow. In addition, the drawings show that yoga can be done by people of all sizes and shapes and that you don't need much specialized equipment.That said, I think the author would have served teens better to include a section on yoga props and using a focus point when doing balancing poses. The author is correct in saying that many teens can find benefit in yoga, but I think that teens who are new to exercise or looking to improve their health and fitness would benefit from having an approach that helps them build up into full poses.I think teens will pick this book up and find it useful, even though it is written more for someone who may be offering yoga as an option in physical education classes. I would definitely recommend it for schools and fitness programs for teens.

It's more detailed than a DVD in some ways but I guess I'm a pretty visual person because I think I'd rather learn by watching someone. That's just me I think though, because the book is well written with clear instructions.(Early Reviewer's Copy)
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I've never been particularly interested in yoga - and as a little kid I even remember faking I knew how by acting like I was meditating and rolling around on the ground . . . As you can imagine, I'm pretty sure I didn't fool many. But, I took some time this morning to go through it, and found it fascinating! My mom and I actually got together to do the partner poses, and my favorite single dance is the moon dance. I feel so graceful! =) I'm glad that I was given this book in LT Reviewers since I am actually a teen! There are not many teenagers within LT (that I've seen) so it was an honor to test out a sample of something thats fun and active - made specifically for my age group.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Helen Purperhart’s introduction to yoga for teens provides an excellent overview of the positive impact yoga can have on young minds and bodies, whether in relieving stress and tension or in allowing teens a supportive space for self-exploration. With several introductory pages on the history of yoga and on the ways in which yoga can be introduced to teens, this title not only presents dozens of poses and exercises geared towards disparate skill levels and with different group sizes, but also offers a more rounded approach to yoga – yoga not only as physical strengthening and increasing flexibility, but yoga as a playful practice of aligning stability in mind and body.Nevertheless, the book never makes clear (either in its title, introductory information, or exercise segments) whether the title is aimed strictly at those who teach (or want to teach) yoga to teens or for the teens themselves. The introductory information provides a broader context to yoga, but this approach to yogic practice as a disciplining of body and mind is not extended throughout the text uniformly, making the text seem slightly disjointed. Furthermore, although the introduction acknowledges that when the illustrations seem misleading or require further explanation to rely on the textual descriptions, often the text does not provide as much information as might be required to safely move between positions or to move into or out of particular poses. Despite these problems, however, Purperhart’s title provides a concise and informative guide.
