Oriental Yoga is a fusion of traditional Indian Hatha yoga with Chinese medicine and Taoist cosmology. The aim of applying this knowledge is, like all yoga’s and spiritual paths, is to help the practitioner align with the natural cosmic forces of the universe. When one aligns with these natural forces the path becomes more harmonious, more easeful and more joyful, for these are the innate qualities of the universal way.
This book explores winter in the 5 element system and provides insight into the associated organs and meridians. Also detailed are a variety of practices and yoga asanas to help the practitioner align with the winter energy. This book is not just about explaining a variety of yoga postures, it explores a complete system of yoga.

Michael Hetherington
Michael Hetherington L.Ac, BHlthSci, is a qualified acupuncturist, Oriental medicine teacher, and yoga teacher based in Brisbane, Australia. He has been practicing yoga since 2000 and working with Chinese medicine since 2004. He has a keen interest in mind-body medicine, energetic anatomy, nutrition and herbs, yoga nidra and Buddhist style meditation. Michael was always attracted to eastern philosophy and it was this interest that drew him to the teachings and practices of yoga and Oriental medicine at a young age. After traveling to China to teach English for a year, he returned to Australia in 2004 to begin studying Chinese medicine, remedial massage and practicing oki-do (Japanese yoga) and hatha yoga more seriously.
