About this ebook

"The Essential Kahlil Gibran: The Madman, The Forerunner, The Prophet" edited by Harry Polizzi are the first three books published in English by Kahlil Gibran renowned Lebanese-American, writer, philosopher, poet and artist. All three are published in one continuous E-book. Each book contains the original illustrations by Gibran.

"The Madman His Parables and Poems," Gibran's first book was published in 1918. It is a slim volume of aphorisms and parables written in biblical cadence somewhere between poetry and prose.

"The Forerunner: His Parables and Poems," his second book first published in 1920. "The Forerunner" is a memorable collection that speaks to the heart and mind about such timeless issues as love, death, pride, vanity, foolishness and holiness.

"The Prophet," is Gibran's third  book first published in 1923. His most famous and often quoted work. "The Prophet" speaks of the yearning for unity within us. Through a series of twenty-six poetic essays, the central character of the book teaches us that only through Love can we truly achieve unity. It has been translated into more than twenty languages, and is often cited as the most widely read book of the twentieth-century.

Gibran's timeless poetry and prose breathes the spirit of the Orient onto Western souls and gives a new interpretation of life as well as an intense beauty.

In the Arab world, Gibran is regarded as a literary and political rebel. His Romantic style was at the heart of a renaissance in modern Arabic literature, especially prose poetry. Though much of Gibran's writings deal with Christianity, especially on the topic of spiritual love, his mysticism is a convergence of several different influences: Christianity, Islam, Sufism, Hinduism and Theosophy.

His beautiful formal language, intense philosophy, and deeply mystical thought make him the third most widely read poet after Shakespeare and Lao Tzu

With each reading, the reader finds deeper meaning and spiritual exposition to Gibran's verse, making him an author that can be read again and again for new discoveries.

There are approximately 27,900 words and approximately 93 pages at 300 words per page in this 3 volumes in 1 e-book.

Author

Kahlil Gibran

Kahlil Gibran was a Lebanese-American writer, poet, and a philosopher best known for his, The Prophet. Born to a Maronite-Christian family in a village occupied by Ottoman rule, Gibran and his family immigrated to the United States in 1895 in search of a better life. Studying art and literature, and inevitably ensconced in the world of political activism as a young man dealing with the ramifications of having to leave his home-land, Gibran hoped to make his living as an artist. With the weight of political and religious upheaval on his shoulders, Gibran's work aimed to inspire a revolution of free though and artistic expression. Gibran's, The Prophet has become one of the best-selling books of all time, leaving behind a legacy of accolades and establishing him as both a literary rebel and hero in his country of Lebanon. Gibran is considered to be the third best-selling poet of all time, behind Shakespeare and Lao Tzu.
