    1.  The Characteristics of a Lhasa Apso Puppy and Dog

Want a cute princess, who is determined and sturdy, you should then choose the Lhasa Apso.  The Lhasa Apso is one of the cutest dogs around, who is small yet intelligent, so don’t go by her looks.  She has small eyes, which are deep and dark brown.  Her ears are hairy and she has straight legs covered with a lot of hair.  The Lhasa Apso has sharp teeth and feet are cat like.  Her tail would also be well covered with hair and stands high.  The coat of a Lhasa Apso is dense; rather the coat is double and straight, all over the body.

The most popular colors the Lhasa Apso comes in would be slate, dark grizzle, brown and its shades, black and even white.  When they are pups, the color of the coat is different from what they have as adults.  It is seen that many grown up Lhasa Apsos have their hair short, which is because the owners find it easier to manage them that way.  Hence, this is not something, which is natural, and is the prerogative of the owner at large.

Just because the Lhasa Apso is a small dog, don’t go by her size, for she is well mannered, intelligent, assertive and extremely friendly.  The Lhasa Apso makes a good pet at home; she loves kids and other pets around.  They would only respond to training when you motivate them to learn more.  Obedience is easy with the Lhasa Apso and they make the best watch dogs around, which is why we said don’t go with their size.

However, when training the Lhasa Apso, ensure you aren’t too harsh with your tone or else they go into a shy mode.  Ensure you socialize the pet well with kids and other animals and don’t let the Lhasa Apso fall into the traps of small dog syndrome. Sometimes they could be willful and want to seek more attention by barking non-stop, this is when you have to take control and show her whom the big boss around is.

The Lhasa Apso doesn’t like to be left alone and would be very sad and upset when you do so.  Since they follow you, their natural instinct is to be with you and not leave you.  Sometimes they can snap, but then again it depends on how well you have trained the Lhasa Apso to adapt to people and places or even situations.  The Lhasa Apso doesn’t have too many health issues to be worried about, but yes, skin issues can happen when the coat is not kept clean.  Check with the doctor for their eyes, kidneys and ulcers, this could also be problematic as they grow old.

If you stay in an apartment, the Lhasa Apso is best for you.  They love being indoors and can be there the whole day. They love to go for walks when they are taken out, they love to play as well.  Ensure that at least once a day you take your pooch out for her walks or else she would be mentally and physically drained out and disturbed.

    2.  What You Should Know About Puppy Teeth

    ––––––––

There is no doubt about it; puppies are going to chew on things!  Dogs will have 28 baby teeth, and 42 permanent teeth.  When a puppy is roughly, 2 to 3 weeks old, their baby teeth start to come in.  All their baby teeth should be in place by roughly 8 weeks of age.

The puppy’s new teeth are very tiny and sharp, and will hurt your fingers when they get a hold of them.  Most mothers will start to wean their babies at 5 to 6 weeks old.

Your puppies baby teeth will start to come out around 8 to 12 weeks of age.  By roughly 8 months old, your dog’s permanent teeth should all be in.  You should make sure that all baby teeth are out, so that a tooth is not left in, and another one comes in and crowds the space, and gives your dog pain.  You would need to visit the vet if you see this happening.

Your puppy is going to want to chew on something, just like a real baby, their teeth are coming in, and they want to relieve some of the pain. It is good for them to chew, to help the teeth come thru.  You would want to get some appropriate chew
