    Ashley sat in her usual spot at the bay window in the dining room. Since quitting her job, she spent hours at a time staring outside and daydreaming. Her husband had insisted that she let go of her high pressure job and all the stress that came with it. Bill was finally a self-employed brick mason with three employees of his own. He told Ashley that she didn’t need to waste her life away at someone’s desk when she could relax and do as she pleased. The idea of relaxation was inviting at first but Ashley quickly became bored. Besides the business, Bill was occupied with the restaurant they had inherited through Melvin, their close friend who had passed from a long battle with cancer and left his booming business to Bill. Ashley didn’t know anything about running a restaurant and Bill didn’t either. She worried that he was taking on too much, but he insisted that he could handle everything. Ashley appreciated his ambition and determination, yet she disliked the fact that her husband of ten years had become an obsessive workaholic. They had moved from their one bedroom apartment to a large four bedroom house, in which she spent most of her time alone.

    Ashley decided she could no longer sit at home looking out of the window or watching television. She showered, put on a blue dress and black pumps, an outfit she would have usually worn to work. She knew she would fit in with the lunch crowd at the restaurant. She sat at her vanity and
