- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Awesome book! It really helped me familiarise and retain ideas of what I am reading through identifying keywords and key phrases. I also like how the book explained the importance of paraphasing. It really help me a lot in locating answers to the questions in my IELTS test. I love all the Chapters, but my special favorite was Chapter 6 because my grammar is poor, it help me improved my grammar. Overall, I highly recommend this book to students who wants band score of 7 or even higher. Thank you for this wonderful book!

How This Book Helps You
This book gives you, the IELTS Test candidate, detailed guidance on how you can improve your IELTS Reading Test band score.
The IELTS Reading Test is no different from any other exam or test type. There are techniques, which can be practised and which will place you, the candidate, in a better position to answer each given question type.
This book teaches you those techniques for the IELTS Reading Test.
The IELTS Reading Test
The IELTS Reading test has three parts, and each corresponds to a passage or text; each has 13 to 14 questions. In short, the total number of questions is 40. The three Reading passages are of various academic themes or fields of study; their level is in ascending order of difficulty.
Raw Score vs. Band Score
Reading band scores, ranging from 0 to 9, are determined based on the raw score or number of correct answers. The whole test contains 40 questions. Hence, the perfect score is equivalent to band 9. It is also possible to get a half band higher or lower. For actual conversions, refer to the table below.
From the table above, you will appreciate the relative importance of each question and by extension you will learn where the marks lie and where to focus.
The next table provides a comprehensive description of the English language capabilities required in each band score.
General Advice on Approaching the IELTS Reading Test
In the Reading test the answers must be written on the answer sheet within the given 60 minute period. So, candidates should plan to finish answering a few minutes before the time limit in order to have the chance to review and double check on the answers.
Overall, success in IELTS Reading requires speed together with the skills discussed and taught in this book. The only way to be a good reader and to do well in the test is through establishing an extensive and regular reading habit - which includes ensuring that you understand any unfamiliar words and phrases that encountered, together with synonymous words and phrases for the same. Learning synonymous words and phrases, and the ability to paraphrase, is key to success in IELTS reading.
The lessons in this book are designed to improve performance in the test
