Impact of Technology in Parenting
Before you learn more about how you can maximize the iPad as an educational tool, it is always good to know where technology stands in the parenting world. The development of technology over the years has brought many benefits to parents in raising their children. For starters, technology enables children to live longer since medical procedures and drugs have since become more advanced as compared to a hundred years ago. Before the Industrial Age alone, many children have died before reaching the age of five due to the lack of medicine and effective healthcare facilities. Today, parents don’t have the same kind of fear and anxiety over infants and children who get sick. Thanks to technology, parents can be sure to have cleaner water, antibiotics, immunization and highly-equipped medical facilities. Other advances in technology have made parenting a little more convenient for parents. Gadgets and contraptions such as baby monitoring devices, portable sterilizers and absorbent diapers have made a great difference in the lives of parents and their young ones.
However, there are some parents in the modern world who are not totally embracing the many benefits of technology. For these parents, their growing anxiety and animosity towards technology stems from the fear that the basic standards of privacy have been violated including the respect for human dignity.
