The summary is quite misleading. The first story takes after their marriage, the first before. Regardless, both stories are well-written and interest-grabbing. Well worth a read.

I was a bit confused by this book--the description said it was two stories portraying an alternative route for Darcy and Elizabeth to wedded bliss, but what I read turned out to be one story *after* the wedding, and one story with a very slightly different route from the original.

The first story, taking place in their first year or so of marriage, was excellent! Although not
long, it provided a sweet view into the lives of the Darcys, and I felt the characters stayed true to Austen's originals. Many "after" stories have Darcy continuing in his prideful ways, with an almost suffocating bout of over-protectiveness thrown in, but this tale showed a loving and respectful partnership, and if Darcy felt over-protective he usually admitted to it (and had good reason).

It was an excellent read, and my only complaint was that it was too short!

The second story, however, was drastically different. The basic premise is that instead of Darcy proposing and then writing a letter after his rejection, Col. Fitzwilliam takes the liberty of telling Elizabeth the truth about Wickham before Darcy attempts
to speak with her. Mixing the original story with what looks like copying and pasting of the original text, some events are rearranged, but nothing strays too far from the original. It was actually disconcerting, and unfortunately the comparison between Austen's witty and concise prose and this author's longer, meandering descriptions made for a horrible pairing.

It felt like the first and second story were written by completely different people. Maybe they were and I missed it. More from the first, please!

p.s.--The title I read this under was "Dreaming of Mr. Darcy", and had absolutely nothing to do with either story.
