About this ebook

As one of a series of outstanding studies into the truth of the Word of God, this book “Hebrews” explains in detail that the Christ (Messiah) promised by God in Genesis 3:15 is Jesus, who was dead but God raised him up alive. The resurrected Jesus is seated at God's right-hand side on God's throne. He is the son of God, he is the Lord and the Christ, and he is the apostle and chief priest of the agreement with God. Now we are living in the New Covenant times since the gift of holy spirit was made available on the day of Pentecost, as recorded in Acts chapter 2.

It also contains a new translation by Maura K. Hill from the Greek papyri and texts of the Bible. It is one of the best translations in the world today and is ideal for use as a companion to alternative translations and studies.

By providing this exciting and inspirational understanding of the Scriptures, Maura gives us a true Bible study that makes known God’s Will for our lives, with the opportunity to be saved, to come to a full knowledge of the truth, and to live in accordance with God’s intention.

    Preface

    It is my desire to make known God’s Word and Will, so that people will have the opportunity to be saved, come to full knowledge of the truth, and live in accordance with God’s intention. God’s Word was and is and will continue to be Truth. It is the Word of Life.

    This book includes information about the following:

    o Differences between the old and new covenants

    o Jesus offered himself in sacrifice on behalf of sins

    o God accepted his sacrifice and raised him up alive

    o Christ Jesus is now at God’s right-hand side

    o Christ Jesus gives us hope

    I have studied and continue to study the Greek papyri and texts of the Bible extensively, and it is from these that I make my Word Translation and Study to provide this in-depth study aid.

    The words that the only true God spoke are the best words to communicate His thoughts. It is because of mankind’s interference, mistranslations, etc, of what God spoke and/or what was written down, and because mankind has removed himself in his thinking so far away from God’s thoughts and words, that I endeavor to help all of us come-back to the integrity and truth of what God says - His Word - His thoughts - His will.

    Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss or comment on this Word Translation and Study via the Contact link on https://www.TrueBibleStudy.com.

    Thanks to God for His love and grace.

    Relevant Notes

    Unless otherwise stated, all scriptures are quoted from the following:

    o The True Bible Study Word Translation (TBS) is translated from the Greek Papyri and Texts by Maura K. Hill.

    The various resources and reference materials are listed at https://www.truebiblestudy.com/bible-materials.

    In the TBS Word Translation and Study:

    o Words in a parenthesis () and italicized within a scripture verse are words inserted to help our English understanding of those words which are translated from Greek words.

    o Words in a parenthesis () in the study of the scripture verse are words of explanation regarding the words prior to the parenthesis.

    o Additional explanatory insertions within a scripture verse are enclosed in square brackets [] and italicized.

    o Additional explanatory notes in the study of a scripture verse are enclosed in square brackets [] and are usually in relation to the Greek or Hebrew texts.

    o A slash in the study of a scripture verse, such as: him/her, indicates an alternative word depending on the context.

    o A dash, such as: go there – to Jerusalem, indicates that a certain word or phrase is particularly important or deserving of extra emphasis.

    o Hyphenated words, such as: used-to-go, indicates that there is only one corresponding word in the Greek text.

    o Non-English words are printed with English letters.

    o I use an initial capital letter for all occurrences of the words Lord and Master when referring to either God or the Lord Jesus Christ due to my respect for them, therefore the reader will need to carefully consider the context of each particular usage to understand to whom that usage refers.

    o Where the word spirit refers to God, I use an initial capital or upper-case S - Spirit. But when the word spirit refers to the gift of holy spirit, etc, I use a small or lower-case s - spirit.

    o Underlined text is used for the English word but when translated from the Greek word alla to show that it implies a strong contrast to that-which has just previously been stated, and/or to strengthen a command.

    o Underlined text is used for the singular form of the word you to distinguish it from the plural form of the word you which is not underlined.

    o Underlined text is also used for emphasis.

    o In order to communicate the fullness of the emphasis when the Greek definite article is repeated both with the noun and its adjective - for example: I Corinthians 15:4 the Greek is te hemera te trite, which literally means the day the third - I translate it as "the day, the third (day)."

    o Verbs in the imperfect tense are translated with the words used-to and then the meaning of the verb.

    o For example: used-to teach indicates that the one teaching spent time teaching, his action of teaching continued during a past time that is now finished for some reason, not that it was a quick one-time occurrence. The one teaching taught others taking time to teach, and he may have repeated his teaching at different times and in different ways. This tense is also used to historically describe past events relating what happened.

    o Verbs in the perfect tense are translated from Greek with a superscript number 2 immediately following the verb - for example: it was written². This tense indicates an action done during a past time and which has a present continuing result, meaning it is still the same at the time the verb was spoken or written. Therefore, this example could be translated as: it was written and continues written.

    o The noun love¹ or the verb to love¹ comes from the Greek word agape which is God’s kind of love.

    When the Biblical writers wrote, there were no punctuation marks, no chapter or verse divisions indicated, etc, as we see them today in many of our English Bible translations and versions. Therefore we must read the whole context of each particular passage of Scripture for thought-content to more clearly understand the truth of what has been written.

    Also, the original language was not English, and therefore when I may write that the writer said or wrote such and such, please understand that the writer actually spoke and wrote in the original language the equivalent to that-which I state in the English language to the best of my knowledge.

    I recommend that while reading this book, you also have your usual Bible and Biblical study materials open, so as to compare verses and gain greater understanding of the truth of God’s Word.

    Introduction to Hebrews

    This writing explains in detail that the Christ (Messiah) promised by God in Genesis 3:15 and throughout the old covenant times is indeed:

    o the Jesus who has been resurrected from among the rest of the dead-people and is now seated at God’s right-hand side on God’s throne

    o and he is the son of God, he is the Lord and the Christ, and he is the apostle and chief-priest of our agreement

    o and we are living in the new covenant times since the gift of holy spirit was made available on the day of Pentecost recorded in Acts chapter 2.

    In some of the oldest papyri (P13 and P46) this letter is placed immediately following the letter that is known as Romans. To view papyri you may visit the following links:

    This letter known to many people as Hebrews does not have the word Hebrew in the body of the letter, nor is it specifically addressed to a person or group of people in particular.

    The title given to it in some Greek texts is Towards Hebrews to differentiate it from other letters which were given similar titles by men to distinguish them. Of course, these titles were not part of the original writings.

    From the Book of Acts to the Book of Revelation the occurrences of the Greek word for Hebrew are in Acts 6:1, 21:40, 22:2, 26:14; II Corinthians 11:22; Philippians 3:5; and Revelation 9:11, 16:16.

    This writing of Hebrews was written sometime during or following Acts chapter 18. Peter refers to this writing in II Peter 3:15 and 16.

    Word Translation - Hebrews

    Chapter 1

    ¹:¹God in many-parts and many-manners of-old having uttered-forth to the fathers in the prophets, .2on (the) last of these days uttered-forth to us in (His) son, whom He put inheritor of all-things, by means of whom He made the ages, .3who – being (the) lightness of the glory and character of the substance of Him, and carrying all-things by the spoken-matter of the ability, having made-for-himself a cleaning of the sins by means of himself – sat-down in (the) right-side of the Greatness in high (places) .4having become so-much stronger-than angels by as-much-as he inherited² a name more-different beside them.

    .5For to which of the angels did He say at-some-time, You are My son, I have begotten² you today and again I will be to him for a Father, and he will be to Me for a son? .6But again whenever He may lead the firstborn into the inhabited-area He says, And all angels of God must worship him.

    .7And towards indeed the angels He says, "The (One) making His angels – spirits, even His official-servants – flame of fire. .8But towards the son, Your throne (which is) God (is) into the age of the age and the rod of the straightness (is the) rod of His kingdom. .9You loved¹ righteousness and hated lawlessness, because-of-this God, your God anointed you ‘olive-oil of exultation’ beside the sharers of you .10and You according to beginnings, Lord, founded the earth and the heavens are works of Your hands;

    .11they will destroy-themselves but You throughly-remain, and all as an outer-garment will be caused-to-be-old .12and as-though clothing You will roll them up, as an outer-garment also they will be changed but You are the same and Your years will not fail."

    .13But towards which of the angels did He say² at-some-time, "You must sit-down out-from My right-sides until ever I may put your enemies (the) footstool of your feet"? .14All are official-serving spirits being apostled into (the) ministry because-of the (people) being about to inherit salvation, aren’t they? - (yes.)

    Back to top

    Chapter 2

    ²:¹Because-of-this it is necessary more-exceedingly (for) us to have-attention to the (things) having been heard lest-perhaps we may be caused-to-flow-aside (from them), .2for if the word having been uttered-forth by means of angels became firm and all stepping-aside and disobedience received a rightly-due compensation-payment, .3how will we escape having been unconcerned of so-great a salvation, the-one-which, having received a beginning to be uttered-forth by means of the Lord, was made-firm into us by the (people) having heard, .4God bearing-witness-together both with signs and wonders and variegated abilities and distributions of holy spirit according to His intention?

    .5For He did not subject to angels the inhabited-area, the (inhabited-area) being about to (come) concerning which we utter-forth, .6but someone somewhere throughly-witnessed saying, Who is man that You remember him, or a son of man that You look-intensely-on him? .7You made him less a short thing beside angels; You crowned him with glory and honor; .8You subjected all-things down-under his feet; for in the subjecting all things, He left nothing unsubjected to him.

    But now not-yet we see all things having been subjected² to him, .9but the (one), having been made-less² a short thing beside angels, we observe, Jesus because-of the suffering of death having been crowned² with glory and honor so-that with (the) grace of God he may taste death on behalf of all, .10for it used-to become Him to make (him) complete – because-of whom all things (are) and by means of whom all things (are), having led many sons into glory, the author of their salvation by means of sufferings;

    .11for both the (one) making-holy and the (people) being made-holy (are) all from one, because-of which cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers .12saying, "I will announce Your name to my brothers, in (the) midst of (the) church I will hymn-to You; .13and again, I will be having been persuaded² on Him; and again, Look!, I and the young-children whom God gave to me";

    .14therefore since the young-children shared-in-common² of blood and flesh, also he being-near-beside shared of the same-things in order that by means of death he may render-ineffective the (one) having the strongness of death, that is the devil, .15and he may remove these-people from (it), as-many-as with fear of death through all of life used-to-be liable of slavery;

    .16for indeed he does not take-hold-on angels but he takes-hold-on seed of Abraham .17from-which he used-to-owe to be made-like the brothers according to all-things in order that he may become a merciful and believing chief-priest (concerning) the-things towards God with-a-view to make-propitiation-for the sins of the people, .18for in that-which he suffered² himself having been tempted, he is able to come-to-help the (people) being tempted.

    Back to top

    Chapter 3

    ³:¹From-which, holy brothers, sharers of (the) heavenly calling, you must mentally-perceive the apostle and chief-priest of our agreement: Jesus, .2being believing to the (One) having made him as also Moses in His house, .3for this (Jesus) was esteemed-worthy² of more glory beside Moses – according to as-much-as he has more honor than the house, the (one) having fully-prepared it,

    .4for every house is fully-prepared by someone, but the (One) having fully-prepared all-things (is) God, .5and Moses indeed believing in His whole house as (the) attendant for a witness of the (things that) will be uttering-forth, .6but Christ as (the) son on His house, which house we are, if-ever-indeed we may hold-down the boldness and the boast of the hope.

    .7On-which-account – according as the Spirit, the Holy (Spirit) says, "Today if-ever you may hear His sound .8you may not harden your hearts as in the embitterment according to the day of the temptation in the desert-place .9which your fathers tempted in proving (Me) and saw My works .10forty years, on-which-account I was very-displeased-towards this generation and I said, ‘Always they are caused-to-wander with the heart but they did not know My ways,’

    .11as I swore in My wrath, ‘If they will go into My rest’" – .12you must observe, brothers, lest-perhaps there will be in someone of you an evil heart of unbelief in the departing from (the) living God,

    .13but you must encourage yourselves according to each day continuously-until where the today is called in order that someone from you may not be hardened with deceit of the sin, .14for sharers of the Christ we became², if-ever-indeed we may hold-down firm the beginning of the substance up-until (the) completion .15in the (time it is) being said, Today if-ever you may hear His sound you may not harden your hearts as in the embitterment,

    .16for some-people having heard embittered, but not all the (people) having gone-out from Egypt by means of Moses, .17but He was very-displeased-towards some-people forty years – wasn’t it towards the (people) having sinned whose dead-limbs fell in the desert-place? - (yes.) .18But to whom did He swear not to go into His rest? – except to the (people) having disbelieved; .19and we observe that they were not caused-to-be-able to go-into (it) because-of unbelief.

    Back to top

    Chapter 4

    ⁴:¹Therefore let us be caused-to-fear lest-perhaps, (during the time of the) promise being left-down to go into His rest, someone from you may consider to have lacked²; .2for also we are having been good-messaged² fully-as those-people-also, but the word of hearing did not profit those-people (who were) not being mixed-together² with the belief to the (people) having heard;

    .3for we go into rest, the (people) having believed; according as He said², …as I swore in My wrath, ‘If they will go into My rest’ and-so (after) the works from (the) throwing-down of (the) world having been caused-to come-to-pass, .4for it said² somewhere concerning the seventh thus, "And God rested in the day, the seventh (day) from all His works .5and in this again, If they will go into My rest,"

    .6therefore since there is left-away some-people to go into it, and the (people) formerly having been good-messaged did not go-into (the rest) because-of unbelief, .7again He marked-out-definitely some day Today in David saying after so-much time according as it was said-beforehand², Today if-ever you may hear His sound you may not harden your hearts, .8for if Joshua caused them to-rest He used not ever utter-forth concerning another after these days.

    .9Consequently a sabbath-rest is left-away for the people of God, .10for the (one) having gone into His rest also he rested from his works wholly-as God from (His) own (works).

    .11Therefore let us be earnestly-diligent to go into that rest in order that someone may not fall in the same pointing-out of unbelief, .12for the word of God (is) living, and in-working, and more-cutting over every two-edged sword, and reaching-through continuously-until (the) distribution of soul and of spirit, both of joints and of marrows, and apt-to-judge (the) thinkings-within and mind-purposes-within of (the) heart, .13and there is not a creation not-manifest before Him but all-things (are) naked and having been exposed-at-the-neck² to the eyes of Him with Whom (is) the word to us;

    .14therefore having a great chief-priest having gone-through² the heavens, Jesus the son of God, let us strongly-hold the agreement, .15for we have not a chief-priest not being able to suffer-together with our weaknesses but having been tempted² according to all-things according to likeness without sin, .16therefore let us go with boldness towards the throne of the grace in order that we may receive mercy and find grace for well-timed help.

    Back to top

    Chapter 5

    ⁵:¹For every chief-priest being taken from men is constituted on behalf of men (regarding) the-things towards God in order that he may offer free-gifts and sacrifices on behalf of sins, .2being able to suffer-the-measure with the (people) unknowing and being caused-to-wander since also he is laid-around-with weakness .3and because-of it he owes-it – according as concerning the people thus also concerning himself – to offer concerning sins;

    .4and someone does not take the honor to himself but being called by God, according as-indeed also Aaron, .5thus also the Christ did not glorify himself to be-caused-to-become chief-priest but the (One) having uttered-forth towards him, You are My son, I have begotten² you today,

    .6according as also in a different (psalm) it says, You are a priest into the age according to the arrangement of Melchisedek;

    .7who – in the days of his flesh having offered with strong crying-out and tears both supplications and petitions towards the (One) being able to save him from death, and having been heard from the devoutness – .8even-indeed being (the) son learned the obedience from which-things he suffered, .9and having been made-complete he became (the) causer of eternal salvation to all the (people) obeying him .10having been designated by God chief-priest according to the arrangement of Melchisedek;

    .11concerning whom (there is) much word for us and (the word is) of-hard-interpretation to say since you became² sluggish-people to the things-heard, .12for even owing to be teachers because-of the time again you have need (for me) to teach you some rudiments of the beginning of the declared-words of God, and you became² having need of milk not solid nourishment,

    .13for every-person sharing of milk (is) untried of (the) word of righteousness for he is an infant, .14but the solid nourishment is of complete-people, the (complete-people) having – because-of the habit – the perceptions (in the state of) having been exercised² towards through-judgment of both beautiful and bad.

    Back to top

    Chapter 6

    ⁶:¹On-which-account having left the word of the beginning of Christ let us carry-ourselves on the completeness – not again throwing-down a foundation of repentance from dead works and belief on God, .2a teaching of baptisms and putting-on of hands, and resurrection of dead-people and agelong judgment – .3and we will do this if-ever-indeed God may permit;

    .4for (it is) not-able (for) the (holy-people) – once having been lightened, and having tasted of the free-gift, the heavenly (free-gift), and having been caused-to-become sharers of holy spirit, .5and having tasted (the) beautiful spoken-matter of God and abilities of (the) age being about to (come), .6and having fallen-aside – again to new-up into repentance crucifying-up the son of God for themselves and pointing-out-against (him);

    .7for the earth having drank the rain coming often on it and bringing-forth well-put feeding for those-people because-of whom it was also tilled receives a blessing from God, .8but (the earth) carrying-out thorns and thistles (is) unapproved and near a curse which (has) the completion into burning;

    .9but we were persuaded² concerning you, loved-people¹, also having the stronger-things of salvation, since also thus we utter-forth, .10for God is not unrighteous to forget your work and the love¹ which you pointed-out into His name having ministered and ministering to the holy-people,

    .11but we intensely-yearn each of you to point-out the same earnest-diligence towards the full-assurance of the hope
