CHAPTER 1
WAGES OF OBEDIENCE AND DISOBEDIENCE
According to Oxford advanced learners dictionary obedience means doing what you are told to do any disobedience means refusal to do what you are told to do.
One’s success or failure in life depends largely on obedience and disobedience respectively. Obedience and disobedience are avenues for success and failure in life. It is written, If thou shall obey all my law and turn not from it to the right or to the left, then, thou shall be prosperous and successful wherever thou goest.
(Joshua 1:7-8)
The manifestations of the glory of God such as power, signs, miracles, wonders, well-being, health and protection in the Church and in the lives of individuals in the Bible ages are not seen in our age just because the Church as a whole and individuals in some ways act contrary to the word of God by adding to it and subtracting from it. It is also written, Do not add to the word of God, nor subtract from it.
(Revelation 22:18-19, Proverbs 30:6, Deuteronomy 4:2)
The Church and some individuals experienced the glory of God in the Bible ages as a reward of obedience to His word. Some individuals also in the pre-Biblical and Biblical ages experienced the wrath of God by being disobedient to his word.
Most of the problems of this world such as wars, lack of peace, unity, etc. were due to the disobedience of those people in those days.
Wages of obedience
Obedience is an avenue for one’s success in life. It is written, If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire and it shall be done for you.
(John 15:7) Whoever obeys the word of God by acting according to what the word says experiences the glory of God in his or her life.
God commanded the Israelites to abstain from blood and all kinds of unclean meat, fish, fowls and birds. (Leviticus 11:1-47, 17:10-12)
However, it came to a time; the Israelites were taken captives by Nebuchadnezzar to Babylon.
When they reached there, upon the commandment of Nebuchadnezzar, the king or the emperor, some of the young men of the royal families of Israel including Judah were selected to serve in the palace.
And because of that, they were commanded to be fed with the king’s meat (food).
But unfortunately, the king’s food was made up of or prepared with both clean and unclear meats, fishes, fowls and birds.
Nevertheless, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego stuck to the commandment of God and refused to eat the king food. And because of that, God blessed them and granted them wisdom and insight which surpassed all their fellows in the palace: (Daniel 1: 3-20)
Abraham is therefore regarded as the father of many nations, both biological and spiritual because of obedience.
God said unto him, "Get thee out of thy
