How To Manage Anger - A Step by Step Guide - Tony Alavon
1. Introduction
Are you someone who tends to boil on the inside when you are in traffic and someone cuts you off? Maybe you have noticed that you start to get incredibly tense whenever you are in a business meeting and there is something that is not quite going as planned. You could even be a parent that is beyond frustrated to the point of anger whenever your child just does not want to cooperate with you or they are displaying their own tantrum. While anger is a normal emotion that many people feel, it is going to be important that you learn how to deal with the anger that you have in a positive manner as uncontrolled anger can end up taking a toll not only on you but on everyone else around you as well.
Everyone, at some point or another, has felt anger on some level. Even though there are some individuals who will show their anger on a larger scale and tend to have loud outbursts along with it, there are others who are able to bottle up their feelings. However, these people also come with a greater chance of blowing up or having some sort of a flare up of their anger without showing any signs or warnings.
Anger is something that is a basic emotion that all humans have and it is a response that is natural whenever there are situations that are out of our control. There can be a number of things that could set off anger or attribute to it, such as the actions that you see from another individual, from an event that takes place, some expectations that you had that are not being met, feeling as though you have been hurt, dealing with stress and tension, being humiliated or even working through issues with sorrow and jealousy. Depending upon your ability to deal with your anger and express it, this is an emotion that could either be damaging or favorable.
Your ability to effectively handle anger in a positive manner will eventually enable you to put some of the damaging emotions that could be running through you into perspective. If you feel as though you are frustrated, distressed and need to blow off some steam, there are a lot of constructive methods that you can use to help you work through your anger. Try to meditate, make your way to the gym for a workout, take a walk or even listen to your favorite music. These, and many other quick tips will help you in a way that you will be able to calm and even treat your anger issues instead of letting them spiral out of control.
However, expressing any of the anger that you may have in a negative manner on a frequent basis will often lead to a variety of unhealthy behaviors that include aggression and violence. There is always the risk that you could end up getting out of control, which could lead to the threatening of other people around you. Whenever anger starts to interfere with your ability to either think clearly
