The Daily Devotional Series: Jeremiah
()
About this ebook
Warning! Danger ahead! These simple messages stand out as a desperate cry to be heard so that people will avoid some impending catastrophe. This was the message of the prophet Jeremiah to the people of Judah, “Warning, God’s judgment is coming!”
These 52 devotions through the book of Jeremiah delve into the message that the prophet gave and how we can still heed and apply the warning to our own lives today. Why should we repent? What will God do with sinners? We can walk through the path that Jeremiah went as he desperately and feverishly shared God’s message with a people who stubbornly refused to listen. Will we listen to God’s Words?
Kristi Burchfiel’s singular devotional style takes one verse from each chapter, discusses a truth from that verse, and then gives a prayer of response based on that truth. Each devotional is designed to be read in less than 5 minutes, providing a nugget of God’s truth for people to hold to each day. Will you choose to read and heed God’s warning through the prophet Jeremiah?

I never thought that the difficult times I found myself stuck in would result in a Bible study. As a young pastor’s wife, I found myself digging deep into the book of Ecclesiastes looking for answers to the questions that overwhelmed my life: How do I prioritize my life? What things should I focus on? What do I do when things don’t work out my way? How do I avoid having regrets later on? Those questions and the answers I learned paved the way for my first book Without Regrets. Since then, I’ve experienced the amazing truths that God has for us in the Bible and I am passionate about sharing those truths with others in a way that they can apply those truths to their lives. I write Christian Daily Devotionals, including a devotional for the day, as well as Bible studies and I love to share and to pray for people through my Facebook Page and on Twitter. I also enjoy the opportunity to speak and encourage others whether it’s a small study group or a large women’s conference. I grew up in Valley Center, Kansas and received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. I’ve been married to my husband D Burchfiel for 16 years and we enjoy our 2 children, Rebekah and Andrew. We currently make our home in Wichita, Kansas where D is the pastor of Southwest Baptist Church.

The Daily Devotional Series - Kristi Burchfiel
Introduction
What is The Daily Devotional Series?
The Daily Devotional Series was born from my own personal devotions. As part of my daily time with God, I wanted to be able to read and study a whole book of the Bible at a time. However, I also wanted to be able to focus on one specific thought or idea that I could hold on to for the whole day.
This particular book is a little different from my other books in the series. While I still just focus on one, or maybe two verses, each day, I go through each and every verse in these three books. Since 1, 2, and 3 John are shorter books, I wanted to study each verse more in depth, while still staying focused on just one truth for that day.
These devotions are not designed to be an in-depth study of a particular verse, chapter, or book. They are intentionally designed to be brief. Because of this, readers won’t get bogged down in lots of theology. Instead, I encourage the reader to take the time to really focus on application in his or her personal life. The Bible is living and active and applicable in our daily lives.
How do I use The Daily Devotional Series?
If you have the time, I encourage you to take the time to read through the entire chapter for each day so you can get the full story and background information. However, realize that is not necessary to be able to follow and learn from the devotionals. Each devotional focuses on one verse, the truth in that verse, and a response to pray back to God.
May you be blessed as you study God’s word and apply it to your life daily.
About Jeremiah
Exactly what is a prophet? Jeremiah held that title throughout his life and today, that term holds a vast array of different meanings. For some, they see a prophet as a fortune-teller. Others think of a prophet as someone who sees visions and has dreams. However, truly the best definition of a prophet is that he is a mailman. As simplistic as that sounds, the sole purpose of a prophet is to deliver a message. They don’t write the message; they don’t interpret the message; they simply deliver the message.
Jeremiah was a prophet and God called him to deliver messages from Him to the people of Judah. Jeremiah is often seen as a weeping prophet and much of that comes from the fact that his messages were always about the death and destruction of the people of Judah. He spoke during 626 through 586 BC during the last days of the country of Judah. His message was one of destruction and impending judgment on the country for their sins. He did not have a happy message, but he constantly implored the people to
