    Zen Handicapping - Christian Blake

~ Is this book for you?

Zen Handicapping is for all handicappers; beginner, professional or somewhere in between, there’s something useful inside for every type of player. For those that want to continue their handicapping education, I have two additional books about horse racing:

How To Pick Long Shots – reveals three very specific scenarios where high priced long shots can be found. Written for experienced handicappers.

How To Win At Horse Racing – this book is for the beginning player and provides a tiered approach to playing the horses.

Both of my books are available for purchase online. To find them, perform a search for Christian Blake How To Pick Long Shots.

~ What Zen Handicapping is about

I've been playing the ponies for almost three decades and I've got some information to share. Whether you're a beginner, an intermediate player or a professional gambler, my input will help you pick more winners and, hopefully, steer you toward a profitable bank roll.

    ~ Embrace the Chaos

There comes a point when handicapping becomes tedious, boring, and counterproductive to making a profit (or simply having fun). While it’s very easy to spot the standout horses in an upcoming race when reviewing The Daily Racing Form, it’s also 100% guaranteed you will lose money in the long run if you bet favorites to Win.

Betting on the favorite is a sure strategy for losing money. Yes, they win close to 30% of all races, but their payouts are dismal and betting on them will produce a net loss after only a handful of bets. So how does a handicapper profit at the track? By looking for less than obvious horses that have a realistic chance at winning the race. Avoiding the favorite becomes even more important when playing exotic wagers. Because of the need to wager multiple combinations when placing an exotic wager, you must include horses other than a favorite
