    It's the year 2085. Ten years ago, Nathan Wainwright and nine other engineers launched a revolutionary immersive virtual reality computer system known as the sleepernet. The simulations inspire the user's memories to build unique sensations and environments. By their nature, these experiences are encrypted and private - most importantly, from the federal government.

    For ten years, Congress has protected the sleepernet from surveillance and seizure by law enforcement. This delicate arrangement is threatened when a senator's aide approaches Nathan, asking him to investigate suspicious activities in her office.

    It seems the senator Susan DiRevka is working for is no longer the senator that the American people elected. And she suspects that Esper Zane, the Director of the Secret Service, knows all about it.

    The consequences of her allegations could be explosive. Do the sleepers dare to investigate?

    More importantly, can they afford not to?
