About this ebook

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire...

Since 9/11, Brooklyn firefighter Griff Muir has wrestled with impossible feelings for his best friend and partner at Ladder 181, Dante Anastagio. Unfortunately, Dante is strictly a ladies’ man, and the FDNY isn’t exactly gay-friendly. For ten years, Griff has hidden his heart in a half-life of public heroics and private anguish.

Griff’s caution and Dante’s cockiness make them an unbeatable team. To protect his buddy, there’s nothing Griff wouldn’t do… until a nearly bankrupt Dante proposes the worst possible solution: HotHead.com, a gay porn website where uniformed hunks get down and dirty. And Dante wants them to appear there—together. Griff may have to guard his heart and live out his darkest fantasies on camera. Can he rescue the man he loves without wrecking their careers, their families, or their friendship?

I truly wish I could kiss and hug the author for creating these fineeeeeeee specimen of men Dante and Griff and for making them so personable, sexy, loyal and fierce.I snorted this book in two days and for some reason I felt sad to say goodbye to the guys. On the flip side, the chapters were rarely as strong as chapter 10 (chapter 10 was awesome)not the writing mind you but the editing. They were all well written chapters that could have used some tightening up with the unnecessary extended dialogues. BTW..Beware this book is really HOTT..(Someone call a fireman!)

4.5 Stars Enjoyable story with very likeable characters. It's really close to a five for me, but some scenes could have been edited. Overall I highly recommend this feel good story. Two friends who struggle with their developing feelings for one another.

Wow. I loved this! I read such different opinions on goodreads, I wasn't really sure how I'd feel about it, but so glad I read this. I enjoyed everything about it; the characters (I love Griff!), the tension, the smexxin'. This is going on my favorites list. I can't wait to read Tommy's story.

(and that cover is smokin' hot!)

I really enjoyed this book. Definitely going onto my favorites list. It had all the elements that I love to read, suspense, angst, humor, just to name a few. I look forward to reading more by this author. Maybe we will see a story for Tommy?

For me, this is a must read. It has everything from hot sex scenes, intense firefighting, and sensitive social commentary.

I loved the character of Griff, he is such a sweetheart who does not really understand his own appeal. Dante on the surface is the hot "Italian Stallion", but he really is a much more complex person.

I have not been moved by a book like this in a long time.

I had a chance to chat breifly with Damon Suede at an author's luncheon last April about M/M romance novels. I had read one novel in this genre and was interested in reading more. We talked about what drew women to these stories and he emphasized that they were romance novels, just with two 'heroes'. He also told me that the only women who don't like gay romance novels, were the ones who haven't read gay romance novels, (I hope I quoted him correctly on this one as I think he said he even had t-shirts with this saying!). He was right.

Hot Head is warm, funny, loving, interesting, touching and ..... smoking hot! You can't help but fall in love with Griff and Dante in this well written novel revolving around two adult men finding their direction, and each other.

Good m/m romance. Male author. Likeable characters, even though I am not convince to the Dante's method to win Griff. Good best friends to lovers story.

I really liked this book. The characters really came alive on the page, and I found myself laughing quite a bit. It's not terrible complicated, but the emotions are very real. I enjoyed reading it.

I just finished Hot Head by Damon Suede. It’s a kinda/kinda not gay for you fireman romance with muscles and sexy times. I’ve been reading some of the comments on Good Reads and I guess I do agree with some of the thoughts expressed. The incessant tension was at times hard work and I did have some problems with suspension of disbelief. BUT, for all that I found this book to be hugely entertaining. I loved the characterization of Griff. So at odds with himself and his feelings, but so gentle and likable. I liked his physical characterization even more. I even enjoyed Dante’s apparent turn around from local lothario to smitten lover. I liked it all. This has to be one of my favorite reads so far this year. Cute, hot and totally fiction. Love the cover too!

Griff's all encompassing anxiety, despite Dante's "I'll try anything" attitude knocked this book down a star. Not that I don't think it was realistic, but it stretched on and on way past the point of interest for me. Suede gives quite a few chapters of the HEA to help make up for this, but it was still a bit too much.

This was not what I expected at all and I was pleasantly surprised. I expected yet another M/M romance glorifying the porn trade which really angers me. It just isn't a lovely beautiful world where everyone is happy.

Hot Head doesn't glamorize it, nor does it judge it. Instead, Suede paints a very realistic picture of what it would be like for a couple of guys who'd never done anything like this to dip into the world in a safe way but for the wrong reasons.

The two are beyond adorable and very real to me. Often in these books I find myself recycling my image/impression of a beloved character from another novel because so many are so similar. But I've never read a character that feels like Griff, and Dante was original, too. I believed them, I liked that this wasn't overnight for either of them, and I think they're coming to grips with being gay was almost realistic if a little easy. I loved Griff's foray into a gay bar for the first time, I was laughing a lot, and I loved his preconceived notions about what gay men are like.

I really liked how they handled the gay-bashing even if I did think the scene in the bar where everyone loves Tommy a bit unrealistic but it was sweet.

One of my favorite parts was the photo shoot. I love the photographer, how everyone interacted, the banter, the possessiveness, Dante's antics, etc. I want Suede to write a sequel and include this woman in it.

I liked Dante's family, and I love how not black and white Griff's is. His father sucks but he's not evil. That's realism.

The best part, though, was how well Suede handled and integrated 9/11 into the story. He talked about what it was like back then, how it is 10 years later, how the city treated them now, what has changed what hasn't, and how that day will always be part of what it is to be a firefighter in New York City. I like that he mentioned how police officers lost 70 something of their own, too. They were heroes, too, who also went into the buildings to pull people out and they get almost no recognition. I believe being a police officer is one of the most thankless and dangerous jobs on the planet. But I digress.

There was even some danger and what I call peril: fear that someone is going to die and the other person terrified and desperate for them. God I love that. I am so sick.

Anyway, I really want to read more about these guys and hope Suede hurries up and writes a sequel. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 because of the way he handled and integrated the subject of 9/11.

Although I found parts of the plot a little ridiculous I did love Griff & Dante. And Dante's family was great. I'm interested to see where this series goes.

This book really keep me on the edge of my seat through the first 2/3rds of the book. To see the struggle that Griff was going to in trying to care for his friend without letting it get out of hand. The last third of the book the feeling of the book change and I loved the outcome of the story. It was a great read and worth the effort.

I was looking forward to reading this one and it definitely met expectations. I have to admit, though, that the first chapter made me hesitate. The language used was rougher and more 'slangy' than I'd read before and I found the different dialogue tags slightly jarring (this could also have a lot to do with how my Calibre software converts pdfs into mobi and messes up the page formatting, though). Also, the way the author represented women in general as cock-hungry predators made me wary about continuing (and is also why this is 4 stars instead of the five the rest of the story deserves).

I did continue, though, and fell completely in love with Griff and Dante.

The MCs are well written and fleshed out beautifully. Their story is well plotted and paced just perfectly. It was funny and sad and sweet and very sexy. I love how Griff (the POV character) grew into himself during this journey, and how his relationship with Dante changed very naturally. The emotions were so powerful; I could feel them through the page.

I enjoyed the character of Tommy and how he influenced Griff, and the scene in the gay bar towards the end made me tear up. Dante's sister left me a little cold in our first meeting but the rest of Dante's family was wonderful and warm. I wish Dante's relationship with his dad had been explored a little further, but I was pretty satisfied with what I got.

Alek was the surprise of the piece. I started off thinking he was a stereotypical slimy wannabe porn king but he was a pervert with a heart and his advice to Griff was so heartfelt that I shed a tear or two. Beth and Dante together were a hoot as well!

I'd love to read a sequel about the MCs trying to maintain their relationship while working as firemen. I really did end up adoring them both.

I liked but did not love this one. Sarah Franz at Dear Author gave it an B and her thoughts so often match mine when it comes to m/m romance that I was a bit surprised actually. I felt it took too long for Griffin and Dante to actually get together, there was a bit too much 'will they or won't they' - even though, given it was a romance novel, I knew they would, which made the experience frustrating for me. However, there was a lot to like, I just didn't like it as much as Sarah.

Perhaps a bit spoilery, but I had this ominous feeling like things would turn sour for the protagonists in the end – but to my surprise and to my relief, that was not the case. Honestly a sweet, happy and smoldering ending!

This was a lovely story. My heart ached for Griff, and I was happy to go along on his journey.

It was interesting reading an M/M story that was actually written by a gay man (if the author's bio is to be believed). I don't think I've ever seen so many slang terms for penises and masturbation. ;) There were a couple places where the editing failed ("growning"), but that wasn't enough to make me give up on it. Overall it was very good.
