About this ebook

Overachiever River Purcell was never supposed to be a struggling single mom working double shifts just to make ends meet. Nor was she supposed to be abandoned by her high school sweetheart. Now, Vaughn De Matteo is back in town, with his sights set on her...and River is in danger of drowning a second time.

No one believed Hook’s resident bad boy was good enough for River. Not even Vaughn himself. But he’ll fight like hell to win back the woman he never stopped loving, to keep the daughter he never expected, and convince himself he’s worth their love in the process––even if he has to rely on the fierce and undeniable sexual chemistry between him and River.

But even as River’s body arches under his hungered touch, the demons of the past lurk in the shadows. Waiting for Vaughn to repeat his mistakes one last time...

This was one hot book! Seriously, it was scorching. Its a tale of second chance romance with a little girl thrown in to sweeten the deal. The thing I liked best about this book was there were no stalkers or murderous ex's. It was just about two people overcoming their past to try to make a better future for themselves and their daughter. And it also portrayed people a little more"real". River works at a factory, not some high paying job. Vaughn is worried about being able to support a family. Together they are forming a regular middle class life. I would love to read something in the future where they're a little more settled into their new lives with all the trimmings. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

So I never realized that this was a book written years ago, not that it really mattered I was just shocked, and I was also a little upset with myself to find out that this was the second book in this series, but I will rectify that. Now I notice that I am hit or miss with Tessa's books, some I love some I am like, huh what happened there. So we have this second chance roman between River the town good girl, and Vaughn the bad boy, the one who wont amount to anything. So of course Vaughn is going to be a little self conscious about that. However he left her and that was a no, but he didn't stay on my bad side long, because when he came back after finding out that she had his kid he was gun-ho on correcting his mistakes. I liked the town, I liked everyone except the dad, he was just a miserable person..What I didn't like was the corny/sleazy sex talk, yeah so did not work for me. romance :)rcvd an ARC at no cost to author...(netgalley) voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions

3.5/4 Stars | Hot SteamA compelling must-read for Tessa Bailey fans, River and Vaughn’s passionate reconciliation is no doubt, currently burning up thousands of e-readers across the globe. For curious new readers who are unfamiliar with the brilliant Ms. Bailey and her uncanny ability to consistently deliver the most scorching, satisfying, and unforgettable stories in contemporary romance today, you are in for a life-altering treat! Powerfully intense, emotional, redemptive, and more fabulously filthy than ever before, THROWN DOWN couldn’t get any hotter if it was released on the sun!Having met and liked River in CRASHED OUT, the first explosive novel in the Made in Jersey series, I couldn’t wait for her story to be told. Overworked, overburdened, and severely stressed out, that tireless single mother was in dire need of a miraculous HEA ASAP! And, holy heavenly inferno, does she get a phenomenal one! We’re not talking balls, princes, carriages, and glass slippers. Ha! Vaughn is no prince! :) No, River’s happily ever after is rooted in the relatable imperfect reality of living in Hook, NJ. Nevertheless, her newfound forever is a million times more magical than any fairy tale because she gets Vaughn, the fierce warrior who she’d never stopped loving and who she discovers never, ever stopped loving her back with an unshakable devotion.Vaughn. Mercy! Every swoon-worthy inch of that dirty-talking male was tailor made for headboard-breaking-earth-shattering sex. On the streets, Vaughn is so many good and honorable things. A brave but reluctant war hero, a penitent, protective, and loving partner, and an attentive, invested, and smitten new father. For all of these noble things, I liked and admired him a lot. However, behind closed doors, with his wicked sights set on River and his mighty prowess, talents, and ravenous appetites unleashed, he is an enviable, insatiable animal! And, I loved every blazing minute of it! I could read and re-read those steamy scenes for days!I’m not sure I’m ready to part with THROWN DOWN just yet having enjoyed River and Vaughn’s turbulent and deliciously torrid second-chance love story so immensely. I can hardly wait to see what happens next in the series when WORKED UP releases this August! Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review.
