    Chapter 1:

    Focus on Today

    The principles of Reiki are centered on the invitation and invocation of positive energies like that of healing and happiness. It is more on focusing all those energy on the word today, setting aside all the worries and troubles of the past and the future. However, to further understand Reiki, we need to dig deeper into its inner workings and core concepts, which is based on the extrasensory event created by humans: time.

    Time can be referred to as a state of mind - an illusion created by the human brain. Since Reiki focuses only on the present, we must take into consideration the vital factors that we can remove or embrace. These are the following:

    Feelings of anger: All human beings have fears in varying amounts. It is almost always hidden deep within. Sometimes, wrong expectations towards people despite their obvious individual qualities fuel our anger, so does the fear of being assailed and aggressed with the inevitable tendencies to run away. All these are byproducts of the way we expect people to cater to our ideologies that they have only one approach towards certain things they must adhere to.

    All human beings have freewill, and the more we feel towards safeguarding ours means we must also respect that of others. Anger, when unreleased, also poisons the body through released chemicals so it is not good to keep unresolved anger inside of us. One sure way to handle anger is through channeling it to our Creator who is the source of positive energy required for healing.

    Worries: Because it is our innate tendency to ponder about future events, worries also translate as a side effect of time. It makes us lose sense of focus towards the present. Although these feelings come and go and are completely unavoidable, one must not be afraid to face them and deal with them passively and positively. With
