Learn Xcode Fast! - A Beginner's Guide To Programming in Xcode - Paul Priddle
1. Introduction
:Internal_images:iOS_Xcode.jpgXcode. The very word instills fear into beginners who are wishing to capitalize upon the value of writing their own apps. It sounds so complicated, especially for those who are crossing over from a Windows or Linux based environment. This guide will take the mystery out of Xcode and show you just how easy it is to create flawless apps that will do exactly what the user desires, with minimal effort!
In time, most users find Xcode to be a valuable tool to have in their repertoire and find that they simply cannot live without it. By following the steps in this guide, anyone can get started with Xcode and create the app of their dreams. Who knows, it may just launch an entirely new career!
It may seem crazy to look at programming this way, but it is very much like creating or designing something. Picture the application as a play. As the author of the play everything is laid out in order. From start to finish each and every step of the play is orchestrated. It is much the same when creating an app with Xcode.
From the moment a concept of an application is thought of, to the moment it is created and designed, it is like writing a play. The author will create and design the application to do exactly what he or she wants it to do. Before the author creates the actual application, they must first design it and lay it all out, so that they can create it step-by-step without missing any of the most important features.
Xcode is so easy to use that it practically writes itself. You will find that it is a very user friendly and easy language to work with. From start to finish you will be able to design and create just about any application that you desire. As long as each and every step is completed correctly then the process is really quite simple.
2. Planning
:Internal_images:Programming.jpgJust as every good play or movie script takes planning, so does every good application. This is the first stage to creating the app and it will take some careful decisions in order to make moving forward a lot easier.
The critical first phase of any good application is the planning and the sketching phase. To start with, an idea must be fleshed out and brought into reality. Many people begin with a plan to create something that will do a specific function or work for a specific purpose. That is a great start. But, before one actually gets underway, one must take a few things into consideration.
These considerations may vary slightly according to who is designing the app and why it is being designed. Here is a list of common questions to ask oneself when planning an application. Using this list will make the subsequent stages of development far easier.
