About this ebook
India is diverse and developing country with different systems. Most of the travel hacks, best practices and travel tips of developed countries won't work here. For example,
1)Decent hotel rooms available at half the price of AirBnb rooms
2)Tollgates and petrol bunk are the best places for hitchhiking
3)Lorry or truck is the best vehicle to approach for hitchhike as trucks travel for long distance
4)With apps like Makemytrip and Goibibo, you will get an AC double room in $5(Rs.300).
5)You need to have notes of Rs.10, Rs.20, Rs.50 and Rs.100. You can't buy 20bucks item by giving Rs.500 or Rs.1000 note. You should give minimum Rs.100 note to get that item. Small denomination currency is a big problem in India. Don't surprise when a shop keeper hands you five or ten rupee chocolates instead of money.
6) To see the real India, you have to go to the real India. Cities are modernised, so you will not find any difference compared to your city except pollution and population. Go to the villages to see the real India. Villages are the only place where you will get glimpses of Indian culture and customs.
The word "Travel Cheap" doesn't mean cheap rate while compromising comfort and safety. "Travel cheap" meaning is the best travel option for the best rate with comfort and safety. For example, you have to travel from Bangalore to Chennai. From any part of Bangalore, You need minimum one hour to reach the Bangalore Airport. One more hour for Airport procedure. One hour journey time. Again, one hour for reaching Chennai city from the Airport. To reach Chennai from Bangalore, you have to spend 4-5 hour time plus Rs.3500. Instead, you can reach Chennai from Bangalore in Only Rs.800 in same five hours time through train/bus. You can also save one day accommodation cost by travelling night. This book will take you through a lot of Indian Jugaad and hacks where you will get the best value for your money without compromising safety and comfort while travelling in the real India.
Travel cheap in India book also throws light in travelling in Indian villages and customs of India. This book contains nine chapters, namely Transportation, Hitchhiking, Accommodation, Navigation, Internet connectivity, Food, Clothes, Indian culture and Customs. Each chapter contains detailed tips and hacks with images.
