About this ebook

There is a deep, rich vein of spirituality running through The Scribe, a novel that attempts to resurrect the story of Luke the Evangelist. The story isn't simply about Luke however, a whole host of other characters also appear, including Escobar - a member of the Sanhedrin who becomes disillusioned after the crucifixion of Jesus. Ioanna, or St John also has a role to play. He's one of a number of actual characters that include Jesus and his mother Mary, John the Baptist, the Apostles including Simone/Cephas, St Paul, Pontius Pilate, and various Roman Emperors.
Fictional characters interwoven into the story include Escobar and his family; an Egyptian couple Ibrahim and Sarah who meet Jesus; Cesari Ciccone and his wife Rebecca, the parents of Luke (took a few liberties here for the purpose of storytelling); Lucius Scarpacco, an arch enemy of Cesari; and the Santos brothers, sea-faring twins, one of whom is crucified and left for dead by the Romans but is saved by Luke; and The Seer, a mystical figure. There's also a character called Marcus, important because he shows the power of redemption in the novel between himself and Luke.
The novel spans a time period of one hundred years and explores the spread of Christianity. The novel is set in the Holy Land, in Egypt, Syria, Cyprus, Malta, and Rome.
