A TOY COUNTER AND SCALES
Everyone with a young sister or niece will welcome this little model. Easily made it forms a pleasing present and a lasting toy for any kiddie.
HERE is a first-rate little model toy counter that can be easily and cheaply made and that will give endless hours of amusement.
An easily worked wood such as satin walnut has been chosen for this, and a cheap parcel made up by Hobbies of planed stuff of the required thicknesses can be purchased for 1/4 from any Hobbies Branch, or will be sent post free for 1/10. The Parcel No. is T.M. 313.
Make the counter first. The perspective sketch of it gives an admirable idea of the finished thing, the detail Fig. 1 helps in the building up.
The top and floor are similar in size, while the front is 9ins. long by 4ins. wide. All parts of the counter are 3/16in. thick and are, therefore, able to be nailed as well as glued together. On the insides of the middle partitions, which will be seen to be the same size as the ends of the counter, two small fillets of wood about 1/4in. wide and cut from the waste 3/16in. stuff will be glued. These are to act as runners for the little drawer, and as figured, they must be put 1 1/4ins. down from the top edges of the
