    Before anything else was in the world,

    before sun or moon,

    maple trees or lilac bushes,

    before snowflakes or fireflies,

    poodles or chickens or fluffy lambs,

    and before people,

    there was God.

    God has always been.

    God will always be.

    God is powerful.

    God is perfect.

    God is good.

    God is love.

    God’s love has always been.

    God’s love will always be.

    Before anything else, God was. And he will always be there for us.

    It Was Good

    Genesis 1:1–2:3; Psalm 33:6, 9; Hebrews 11:3

    God made everything in the world.

    He made tall mountains and tiny grains of sand.

    He made sour lemons and sweet juicy pineapple.

    He made roaring lions and buzzing bumblebees.

    He made smooth seashells and rough tree bark.

    God made everything.

    He made it all in six days.

    On the first day, God made light.

    He made day and night.

    And God saw that it was good.

    On the second day, God made land and water.

    He called the land Earth and the water Sea.

    And God saw that it was good.

    On the third day, God made plants.

    He made pine trees, blueberry bushes, sunflowers,

    and all sorts of other growing things.

    And God saw that it was good.
