    Know Your Writer

REV. RICHARD MONTGOMERY lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with his wife, Racquel, and their children. Rick is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Rick is now retired, but continues to volunteer as an administrator with the Pittsburgh Experiment, an evangelistic workplace ministry serving the men and women of Pittsburgh.

    A Message from the President/CEO . . .

    Greetings and welcome,

The staff at R.H. Boyd Publishing Corporation is humbled to present a new quarter of study in God’s Word. We aspire to create biblically sound material that is both inspirational and convicting in hopes to encourage readers to pursue a closer walk with God. For 121 years, we have offered the highest quality of Christian literature, and we are confident that our mission to share God’s Word in new and insightful ways is reflected in this quarter’s study.

The next three months will focus on our relationship with God and other believers. The first unit, titled Praise from and for God’s Creation, encourages a spirit of worship in response to God’s majesty. The second unit is titled The Birthing of a New Community. This unit focuses on how to live out the Christian life together as believers. The final unit for this quarter is titled God’s Eternal, Preserving, Renewing Love. This unit will study God’s love for all humanity and touches on how a believer should respond to His love. The overall lesson is that we should love one another just as God has shown love to us.

We look forward to sharing this quarter’s study with you. We strive to obediently serve the Kingdom of God by offering doctrinally sound curriculum for the African-American community. Having fulfilled this mission for more than a century, we press on in our service to the glory of Jesus Christ, our Savior.

    In His Service,

    Dr. T. B. Boyd III

    President/CEO

    QUARTERLY OVERVIEW

With the advent of the Savior by the power of the Holy Spirit, God set in motion the fulfillment of the divine plan of salvation. Luke’s Gospel, several psalms, and the epistle to the Galatians are used to explore God’s ongoing actions in blessing and reconciling the whole creation.

    UNIT I — JANUARY

In Unit I, Praise from and for God’s Creation, employs five psalms. Several psalms emphasize praise for God that emanates from creation itself. Others invite us to praise God for creation.

    UNIT II — FEBRUARY

In Unit II, The Birthing of a New Community, has four lessons from Galatians in which God’s creative process can be seen through the birthing of a new faith community with Jesus Christ as its foundation. The lessons address the importance of spiritual freedom, cooperation, and righteous living in building and maintaining the community.

    UNIT III — MARCH

Unit III, God’s Eternal, Preserving, Renewing Love, has four lessons from 1 John, Ephesians, John, and Joel depicting God’s love for humans as primary and as the source of all love. The lessons show that God’s love overflows, redeems, unites, and renews. The first lesson depicts God as love and the source of all love. The second lesson concentrates on God’s redemptive, overflowing, and uniting love in Christ. The third lesson comes from Christ’s high priestly prayer to God describing God’s love for Jesus and all who believe in Christ. The fourth lesson shows the ultimate restoring and renewing power of God’s love.
