    INTRODUCTION

    ––––––––

I THANK GOD FOR the opportunity to present my first book to you and the whole world about the workplace, its challenges and tips for good leadership for leaders. The book is based on my true-life story.  I thought of putting all these ideas and my experiences down on paper to help you face all those challenges at your working stations, making you aware that there are people who did face them before you and succeed, and who are ready to assist you with every knowledge and experience they have accumulated in the ultimate end.

My book talks about nine characteristics of a bad leader at work, of which l think leaders should avoid at all costs.  I think leaders should truly avoid these nine characteristics of a bad leader in their leadership towards those that God put in charge to lead at working ranks. By avoiding these nine characteristics of bad leadership, they will yield healthy and strong leaders for tomorrow and the future.  It also talks about my accumulated experience and knowledge from my previous three working ranks, that I also think these will assist one in the same position today with what l did face, thus making the troubles he/she is presently faced with a little bit easier to face and overcome.

It also came from my experiences, gives six counsels to leaders, in assisting them to being good leaders at their working ranks.  These are however, not the only gears that can assist and groom leaders to become good in their style, but also herein are good tips that can be of assistance to their development in the leadership category.

I would like us therefore, step by step to look at my book as arranged and written.  Please enjoy reading this book from page to page as it will definitely equip and motivate you.

NINE CHARACTERISTICS OF A BAD LEADER

    ––––––––

I WOULD LIKE US to look at these nine characteristics of a bad leader or of bad leadership at work. I think this will assist all leaders at different working environments to avoid these nine characteristics of bad leadership to the people they lead.

I personally don’t think that leaders are at work only to see to it that a job is well done or is being executed timeously and productively, but that they are also there to see to it that the people or stuff in whom they lead are happy and also to give them necessary advices, motivation and support where needed as far as their wellbeing is concerned, thus assisting them to rejoice all the time coming to work and enjoy having a leader at work.

And I also think that leaders are there to positively groom those working under them into great leaders for tomorrow.  Let us now look at these nine characteristics that shows a bad leader:

    1.  ALWAYS ANGRY FOR NO REASON

When you work under this kind of a leader or leadership, it’s too bad and very difficult, because the person is always angry for no reason.  It is so hard and merely impossible to please this kind of a leader.

This is exactly what l experienced at my working station, we would always be called in his office and get reprimanded for small matters, things like going to a shop to buy bread during tea time, arriving at the shop and because of the queue there, one would end up taking 20 minutes for a tea break instead of 15 minutes as prescribed in the contract, and even if you try to apologize in consequence and give reasons to the extended time wasted, it would be like you are talking alone.  Sometimes he would find you outside the office premises assisting office clients or visitors with directions to where they would like to visit, he would just shout at you in their presence without understanding your reasons for being outside at that time.

Always angry for no reason.  Any bad information that would be given to him by our office clients about us in his meetings with them; won’t be investigated, and on his arrival he would call an urgent meeting and reprimand us from a hearsay, always angry for no reason.

It is very difficult to work under such leadership; going to work becomes so difficult.

    2. WAITING FOR MISTAKES BUT CAN’T APPRECIATE GOOD WORK

A leader should be able to appreciate good work, be able to motivate his/her employees in doing more good in their craft, but ours was an opposite, you do something good, no appreciation at all, but when one does something bad or forget to send a document somewhere or forget to send an invitation to someone for a meeting, that mistake shall be of a reminder on you for a long time, you do
