Introduction
Welcome to the eBook of digital photography. We hope there is plenty to interest you over the following chapters, whether you are a seasoned photographer or a complete beginner. We will guide you through the workings of modern digital cameras, and help you to choose the right one for you. If you have already bought yours, hopefully this eBook will give you a greater understanding of how digital cameras work, and how to get the best out of them.

In comparison, modern cameras, just on cell phones, can have an excess of 20 megapixel (20 million pixels). This shows how quickly technology has developed over the last 25 years. It is not just the size of the camera sensor that has changed rapidly, the DSC100 retailed at $20,000 on release! Modern digital cameras, with resolutions over 20 megapixels, can cost no more than a couple of hundred
