About this ebook

'The Dance of the Chi' reviewed by Dan Bowlds, author of 'Are We Just Bubbles?'

As a man educated in science, mathematics, and engineering, and only having a meager education in things of the human spirit, I do not feel qualified and would not want to critique or give an expert review of “The Dance of the Chi”. But I do see truth in the book that would benefit a scientific mind. I see the practice of Tai Chi as a method to rid ourselves of physical distractions so that spiritual evolution can occur; the development of our minds, heart, soul, and will, things that are independent of the physical actions of the Universe that scientists study.

Mena Koo's book “The Dance of the Chi” is about her journey of “going where the imagination, magic and mystery are” through the practice of Tai Chi. She started writing her Tai Chi journals soon after her “Outer Space Experience”, in which she “space traveled” in her early morning quasi-REM sleep. It was an “out of body” experience where she was aware her body was sleeping, but her consciousness was able to soar out into the Universe where she experienced other beings that radiated serenity and peace. Though these sequential trips only lasted a few days, it reminded her of what her purpose was here on this Earth. Her journals, written over a period of several years, became the basis of her book. So “The Dance of the Chi” is written chronologically with current updates interspersed, and is a history of her progression from the early practice of Tai Chi for health and self awareness reasons, to a higher level of meditation and spiritual enlightenment.

Mena has an EFAW theory (Evil Forces At Work) which she defines as the destructive, malevolent, or mischievous disembodied entity forces (Demons). They are separate from the duality of the Yin-Yang twin forces. She believes that Chi is a vital Yin and Yang force, two energies that operate the Universe to make it whole. And she believes that through the practice of Tai Chi, we can tap into this infinite energy of the Universe. She has written this book to share her Tai Chi experience so that others may benefit from what she has learned. The book is interspersed with her poems and songs, which are inspirational in themselves.

Although I am not versed in the philosophy of Metaphysics, and I have different ideas than Mena about energy, (two different kinds physical and spiritual), and we differ in our beliefs about how the physical Universe operates, I believe that “The Dance of the Chi” may help those studying Metaphysics, and may also give those studying religious or scientific philosophies a broader perspective of what we are as humans. There is but one whole truth, and we must be able to broaden our view in order to see it. — end of the review.

Our beliefs affect our unconscious behavior

Our emotions affect our subconscious behavior

Our thoughts affect our conscious behavior

The Dance of the Chi is not so much about how to do Tai Chi forms as it is about the soul finding expression via a Tai Chi way of knowledge. It offers an esoteric understanding of energy on many levels. The author says Tai Chi is the body giving the soul a workout. Written mostly in journal format, the author takes the reader on a journey of discovery, giving insights into Tai Chi and far more. She shares where the imagination, magic, and mystery was/is. The author urges the reader to remember, one can only meet you as deeply as you are willing to meet yourself.

The author believes this is the only book of its kind, one that delves into the many facets and faces of Tai Chi through the author’s own experiences and thoughts. With this book, Imagination allows Physics to come alive.

Here’s to surrendering and letting go. Here’s to simply trusting the experience. Here’s to an evolution of consciousness exercise. Humans generally cannot accept what we have no experience of. Gary Zukav, in The Dancing Wu Li Masters, said knowledge is past tense; through imagination, physics comes alive. Einstein said imagination is more important than knowledge. Scientists are limited by their formal education. The rest of us are only limited by our imagination. Mena's books are her way of allowing the intellect and imagination to have a bit of fun. The views she holds as of publishing date will evolve as her consciousness expands. Mena's books are an exploration of ideas. Her ideas/beliefs/interpretation of the Universe and life on Earth could well be dismissed and laughed off the planet. She's not sure whether she would prefer her books to be ignored or whether she would like for critics to have a field day. She only knows she does not care to get into arguments and disagreements. Everyone is on their path and learning at their own pace. Everyone is doing the best they can to survive, thrive, and to make sense of their world. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs as long as they are being wrong not doing wrong. Behind every argument is someone's ignorance. Maybe Mena is ignorant. Maybe you’re being ignorant. Maybe we each have a piece of the puzzle? We will all get there in due time. We all want the same things — to be healthy, happy and at peace with ourselves. Mena was born and raised in Malaysia. Due to a deeply troubled childhood, she was someone who was lost for a long time. At some point during the proverbial “mid-life crisis,” Mena started to organize her writing, done sporadically over the years. In doing so she found clarity, her journals became book ideas, and a pattern unfolded. The people in our lives are catalysts for our thoughts, emotions, and lessons in life. Our experiences are catalysts for whom we become. Mena shares a lifetime of research and experience and says she owns her understanding of energy. Mena currently lives in Malaysia with her dogs, the loves of her life. What do her dogs think of her writing? They are not impressed. They don’t know what the fuss is about and would rather “mama” spend more time with them! http://menakoo.com/ https://www.facebook.com/Mena.Koo.Author/ https://www.facebook.com/The.Dance.Of.The.Chi/ https://www.facebook.com/MenaKoo567/ https://plus.google.com/+MnKakaMena https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZjy1W-T5N_iP-Pi-YG2DMA mena_koo@yahoo.com
