I won’t do it. And you can’t make me!
Alex Chandler glared at him, defiance written all over her face. She was fully aware that she sounded like a child throwing a temper tantrum, but the situation she now found herself in totally warranted it.
You really have no choice in the matter,
he told her. Again.
She sighed. The unbelievable man was still trying to convince her of his scheme, which was becoming more absurd and insane by the second.
Besides, no-one’s actually said no to me before,
he added.
Hardly surprising, when one thought about it. The man was famous, after all. Yet she’d been saying that word. No. N.O. N-O. No no no no no! And she’d been saying it for the past ten minutes, but it was like talking to a brick wall. A complete and utter thick, brick wall.
Sorry, dear,
he told her, grinning inanely. You have absolutely no choice. So be a good girl and come with me.
I’m not a girl. I’m nearly thirty!
Rolling her eyes, Alex had long ago resigned herself to the fact that she’d never be a stunner. Or a head-turner. She was just an average woman who, unfortunately, was cursed with terminal cuteness. Her face was young looking, her body curvy and her red curls were always rioting against the pins she jabbed them with.
Oh and to heap insult on injury, she had a smattering of freckles across her nose.
Alex Chandler would forever be the girl next door or somebody’s kid sister. She’d be the emergency date and the movie pal, not the sexy siren nor a sizzling one night stand.
