About this ebook
Buried deep under a mountain in rural Utah lies the largest platinum deposit ever discovered, worth at least a billion dollars. EarthCore is the only company with the technology to dig a three-mile-long mine shaft, not to mention the guts to go after the mother lode, and EarthCore executive Connell Kirkland is determined to uncover the massive treasure. But at three miles below the surface, where the rocks are so hot they burn bare skin, something has been waiting for centuries. Waiting… and guarding.
Kirkland and EarthCore are about to find out firsthand why this treasure has never been unearthed.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5First heard this in serialized podcast form. My first Scott Sigler experience. Still have many fond memories of this book! Masterfully done.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I've been a fan of Scott Sigler since stumbles across the Infected series of books which I really enjoyed and when I saw this I jumped at the chance to take another journey into Sigler's imagination. Earthcore follows the story of a mining company who ruthlessly grabs the mining rights to a newly found platinum deposit on a mountain where Indians talk of curses and several people have gone missing over the years. As works commence the story unfolds in a rather wonderous manner which really stokes the imagination, by the end I found myself feeling, without giving away too much, that it was a bit of a sad story really. Overall, another excellent Sigler story.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Although there were few (if any?) likeable characters in this story, I did enjoy the plot and revelations about the creatures living far below the earth. My only real criticisms were that it went on perhaps a little longer than necessary, and there were a few word choice/pronouciation oddities. Definitely worth a listen if you like gritty and flawed characters in your science fiction mix.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I'm not a big reader in the genre, this had me leaping at shadows on the bedroom wall. Ulp. I take it that means it was a well done horror? It was interesting, but not to my taste.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Ah Earthcore, the story that made me a dirty junkie (the affectionate title proudly worn by Sigler devotees). This story came out several years ago as a serial podcast and after catching the first couple episodes, I was hooked. So hooked that I bought the paperback the second it hit print.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Okay. This book could have been better. I think Sigler tried too hard to build suspense by drawing things out too long. This is an already suspenseful tale, there is no need to build suspense for three or four pages. Quicker pacing in this regard would have helped immensely, and would have shortened the book nicely.I liked everything else. The characters were good (my three favorites survive), and the plot was very interesting. The action was exciting, the descriptions solid, and the dialogue natural. If you like gory monster tales with plenty of action and a subterranean setting, this is for you.Siglerism. Live it.
