Reviews for Emotional Intelligence
2 ratings2 reviews
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Ryan James has a long series of what are undoubtedly short, rip-offs of other people’s work. At 50 pages this is the quintessence of useless self-help book. On the other hand, this also makes Ryan's work a good source for condensed versions of the “average approach.” For me, as a therapist, this is useful. Still, reading his poor writing and news-anchor approach to deep issues is embarrassing. I would only recommend this book to another therapist whom I knew was looking for a really quick introduction to this pop psychology topic.

ongratulations on the purchase of this book, Emotional Intelligence Mastery: How to Master Your Emotions, Improve Your EQ, and Massively Improve Your Relationships. This book is written as a sequel to the book Emotional Intelligence: The definitive guide to understanding your emotions, how to improve your EQ and your relationships. This book is for those who have learned what Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is and how it effects their life. This book is for those who are ready to make serious positive changes to build their EQ, manage their emotions, and increase their effectiveness in all interpersonal relationships. This is a book for those who are ready to go advanced.
Emotional Intelligence is a form of intelligence that contributes to and operates alongside your general intelligence, which is known as IQ. Psychologists and Social scientists have long realized that there are many forms of intelligence. Spouting facts and filling a chalkboard with equations are all well and good, but managing your emotions is such a powerful tool that this ability is recognized as its own form of intelligence. Emotional Intelligence isn’t only the ability to manage your own emotions, but also the ability to recognize and appropriately respond to the emotions of others. Training your emotional intelligence takes work and dedication.
The last book provided some simple, practical steps to follow to begin bringing emotional intelligence concepts into your own life. The book described the many benefits of having a strong emotional intelligence. Some brief tips and tricks to begin understanding and boosting emotional intelligence include identifying and reducing negative emotional habits, engaging in active mindfulness activities, and working to identify different emotions and their processes. This book will delve deeper, drawing on proven practices to use daily in your own life to increase your emotional intelligence.
Training your emotional intelligence is not a fad diet, and it is not a quick, trivial matter. Training your emotional intelligence is a true journey. You will learn more about yourself than you ever have, and embark on a lifelong adventure. The key to building emotional intelligence is to build self-awareness. Studies show that those who actively engage in understanding and loving oneself will lead longer, happier lives. While this sounds like a large scoop of philosophical clap-trap, taking the time to be mindful of yourself is the most important thing in developing your emotional intelligence. This book will approach this topic from several angles, giving you the opportunity to find the practices that work for you and implement them.
This book will provide you with many lists and approaches to training a more effective and strong emotional intelligence. Each chapter focuses on a different aspect of emotional intelligence, and each is important to building a well-rounded EQ. The most important and recurring concept covered in this book is the notion of practice: practice, practice, practice! Every day offers you ample opportunities to practice the strategies provided in this book. Nobody ever became a master at anything without at least a little practice. Even those with a very low EQ or with very little talent in this area can achieve success through practice. The steps provided in this book are provided in a comprehensive list format, giving you specific steps to follow in a way that easy to digest.
The chapters of this book follow a chronological sequence. This means that it is not advisable to skip
