About this ebook

Escaping to Saturn, the Aderes is hit by something radioactive that damages 2 of it's engines. Time lines are crossed.
On moon of Neptune is a cavern with several figures in it. Each is marked with a number. On the end is a floating ball.

Number of statues even varies from time to time and they change location and formation.

Aderes and crew are selected to correct time line splits because Bill Johnson is an out of time catalyst!

Their near contact with another spacecraft results in them ending up in a time line stub.

Stephen Brandon

I've loved westerns and science fiction since I picked up my first book at the public library. I've been writing on my computer for years. I never planned on any of my stories being published, just to be read by myself, family, and friends. The base journal is on forty spreadsheets with links to about a thousand files of short one day paragraphs plus other stories. {My claim to fame, written by someone else. Thanks.} "As an earthbound retiree, Stephen writes mostly science fiction and short stories. He is a voracious reader and has written for a few years, publishing his stories on Smashwords."

    Prologue

A month out Aderes wakes up Bill and Melissa. Uncle Bill, we have a problem. Something hit two of the engines, and the radiation levels spiked. I cut all power to the other engines and diverted power to the magnetic coils surrounding the ships hull. That stopped the radiation spike inside, but the detectors on the outside hull still read lethal levels on one side.

Chapter 1 What did we hit

At breakfast Bill turned to Wilbur and said, OK, have you analyzed the radiation problem?

"Yea boss, from the sensor indications either a nuclear bomb went off or we got caught by a solar flare at the same time as two of the outboard solar engines were hit by unknown objects. The sensors indicate that the radiation levels on the Sol side of the ship have decayed to safe levels for brief exposure. That means no more than thirty minutes per day.

"I had Aderes rotate the ship twenty degrees and the radiation source remained fixed. By rotating the ship we should be able to repair the engines in the radiation shadow, provided they aren't radioactive.

Worse case, we detach the engines and jettison them. We can balance the ship and leave the area.

Aderes, any contact or communications from the orbit the two colony ships are on, also did they pass through this area?

    No Uncle Bill.

Wilbur, get a crew together and check out those engines. I would like options by dinner.

    "Yes Sir.

James, Jim, and Doc meet me in the airlock in one hour. Doc, I want you to bring a full radiation testing kit. I want full documentation because I know the wives will be concerned about more than you-know-what when they get back. Got to make sure they don't glow in the dark afterwards.

With a shake of his head, Doc replied, Everyone assemble in the medical bay in one hour. I'll take samples for later use, if needed.

Shannon held up her hand and stated, I think we should accelerate to a different orbit, take more readings and then let them go out after replacing all hull sensors that are damaged. I'm sure Tanya and I can replace some of them quickly.

Ladies, you will not be going out until radiation levels are verified at background level. replied Bill. Aderes, move the ship to a location where the radiation level is much closer to background levels recorded before the spike.

Yes, Uncle Bill. Prepare for acceleration in five minutes.

Three hours later Aderes announced over the ship wide intercom, Background radiation levels at safe levels. Uncle Bill, should I cut the magnetic shield around the ship? Susan found something interesting and wants to talk to you alone.

    No Aderes, leave it on.

    Report Aderes.

Uncle Bill, background radiation levels are back to normal. Sensor readings indicate that we passed through an area of extreme radiation in the lower X-ray spectrum. I launched three sensor probes to locate the borders of the X-ray concentration. The data received so far indicates a tube formation almost perpendicular to the planetary plane of the solar system. If the sensor probes confirm this, then the logical origin is a spinning black hole, or a focused
