Other works include Wig Out!, set in New York's drag clubs, and The Breach, which deals with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. His awards include the 2009 Steinberg Playwrights Award and the Paula Vogel Playwriting Award.

      A touching, moving, rich story. Written with a tender, sweet voice. I cared about everyone. But, Pharus and AJ made me smile the most. I would love to see this play on stage one day, since I missed it the first time around.

      Such a rolling with-it narrative, such moving interplay among learned young people, such recognizable tenets of the UnMelting-Pot state of our contemporary behaviors. In my quick reading of the play, way more is left unsaid and unread than is said and: read yet it all congeals and leaves me mightily humbled.

      My rating for this script is mostly due to how poorly the ebook I read was published. It caused some difficulty in following the story, and sadly of course much of the power that is found in the musical element of the story was lost. I was only able to truly emotionally connect with the dialogue once I was able to look up some clips of some live performances. It is a strong commentary on race and homosexuality and the desires we have. I look forward to hopefully seeing this performed live one day and looking into an audiobook version to reread. It is a shame that Tarell Alvin McCraney's genius is lost in a poorly published edition of his work.
