    Framed Nature Art

    Decorate the windows of your home with beautiful natural art! In addition to highlighting the beauty of nature, Framed Nature Art is also an interesting experiment—what objects stay the same over time? Which lose their color? As natural materials change by season, this is a fun activity to revisit over time. Can you create art pieces that represent each season?

    MATERIALS

    Frame from thrift store or old frame you’re no longer using

    Natural objects

    Glue

    Suction cups

    Hot glue

    DIRECTIONS

    1.Place the frame facedown and remove any paper and backing from the glass/plastic.

    2.Add natural objects. For best results, choose objects that lay flat or almost flat against the glass front of the frame.

    3.Once you arrange the natural objects as you wish, add enough glue to cover the glass and added objects. For the most permanent artwork, I recommend using Elmer’s Glue All rather than a washable glue, but either will work.

    4.Allow the artwork to dry for several days. In some cases, depending on how dry and warm the air is, how much glue you’ve added, and how much moisture the natural objects release, it may take weeks for your artwork to completely dry.

    5.Once the artwork is completely dry, lay the frame facedown. Ask an adult to line the back edge of the frame with suction cups and then use a hot glue gun (or, alternately, super glue) to permanently attach the suction cups to the back edge of the
