About this ebook

John F Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 required that all records that were previously authorized for withholding by the Assassination Records Review Board were to be released no later than 25 years after the signing of the Act, unless the President authorizes further withholding.
That date was October 26, 2017
But what does the release of these previously withheld documents mean to the next generation of JFK Assassination researchers? And will old prejudices and pre-conceived world views hold fast in the face of this newly released information? The Kennedy assassination is a vital part of our national history, but for those who study it, it becomes something more, something...personal. That personalization of history creates a healthy passion that drives research forward. But it also carries the risk of becoming dangerous if researchers lose sight of the original goal for studying this pivitol event—the truth.
There are certain cancers insidiously infecting legitmate research, according to bestselling author Jacob Carter. And they are discrediting decades of meticulous work that past generations of researchers have accomplished. This must be fixed if the JFK research community is to move forward.
With The Table of Truth, Carter attempts to identify these cancers, and encourages reform among his colleagues in the JFK research community, through logic and character.

    Preface

In my last book about the Kennedy assassination, Before History Dies, I interviewed some of the top experts in the field to give younger people a primer for studying his assassination. I used this format because I thought giving my audience evidence from all sides of the table was important. This generation, my generation, aren’t built to simply believe information because you or I do. As a matter of fact, they despise that form of education. That’s why I knew it was crucial to not withhold any researcher’s opinion, whether I personally agreed with it or not. I had to let them choose for themselves, and I believe they appreciated that format because it gave them the freedom to learn without having to come to the same conclusion that others have.

I did face criticism though. Some older researchers had warned me about the JFK research community beforehand, but I wasn’t prepared for how deep the rabbit hole actually spiraled. The criticism, I believe, was unfounded and rooted in traditionalism and bias. There was nothing wrong with my book. I had been as fair and balanced as any JFK author out there. I allowed the conspiracy believers to be represented by their top dogs and I did the same for the lone assassin community. This wasn’t enough for some, because it didn’t fit into their presupposed worldview. Sure, I wrote a book about the Kennedy assassination that was targeted at getting younger people involved in the case, but I didn’t do it their way and that wasn’t acceptable.

Many times, I was asked why I had this or that researcher in my book. Why would I allow a guy who believed Oswald acted alone in my book? Why would I put a conspiracy theorist in my book? Why didn’t I choose a side? Well, as I stated above, I did it because I understand how to communicate to the people in my age group.

We live in a post-modern world. We don’t live in the 1960s anymore. Younger people aren’t interested in how much someone knows about a topic as much as they are interested in the authenticity of the individual who’s delivering that knowledge. We don’t take sides. We’re not black and white in our thinking. We live in the grey areas. We aren’t afraid of hearing the other side of a case. As a matter of fact, we are suspicious of those who refuse to show it to us.

Knowing that, I had to change some things up. I realized some older researches might not understand that, but I couldn’t write a book to appease their style if I wanted to move this case forward. Reform is hardly ever absent of conflict, but the push back proves the reform is necessary.

Which brings me to this book and why I’m writing it. There are things in the JFK research community that need to be addressed in a book format. As the hype for 2017 builds up in the media, the vitriol and division between researchers is growing as well. The online back biting and gossip between assassination experts isn’t helping this case. We aren’t in the spirit of JFK when we aren’t passing our torch of knowledge to younger people. We can’t pass it on if we’re only concerned with surrounding ourselves with those who agree what we believe to be true about this case. We also can’t do it if we are consumed in gossip. I mean, who really cares what comes out in those October files if we don’t have anyone to pass that information onto? What will happen to this case if researchers continue
