    The stories in this book are drawn from the dozens that Douglas-Klotz has enjoyed telling in his seminars over the past 20 years. Most of them appear in works of the classical Sufis, such as Rumi, Attar, or S’adi. To preserve some of the in-person feeling and bring the language up to date, he has given them his own improvised turns.

    Maryam Mafi

    Maryam Mafi left Iran in 1977 to study Sociology and Literature at Tufts University in the United States. While reading for her Master’s degree in International Communications in Washington DC, she began translating Persian literature. Her thesis on the relationship of literature and social change and the bridging together of cultures has been a pivotal force in her work.

      Lighthearted read. Some stories need to be read twice to really get it, and tbh I don’t get some of the stories, but it doesn’t annoy me, it humbles me and emphasise the need for me to get exposed to art of storytelling. I believe we can always come back and dig more wisdom from such masterpieces.
