Lazarus' Ego: Haikus and Other Writings, Plus Some Art as Well
()
About this ebook
Traditionally, haiku was steeped in themes of nature. Fortunately, modern haiku has expanded to include a vast array of topics. In Lazarus Ego, it is amazing how three short, simple lines can be so visceral, contain such poignancy and insight, while at other times be infused with humor. Its clear that Nelson Pla carefully constructed his line breaks, which change the entire meaning,
and are very thoughtprovoking.
In this collection of haikus, watercolor paintings and essays, the reader is treated to a glimpse through the aperture of the innately creative mind of Pla. An astute observer of life and the
human condition, Pla touches on philosophy, religion and the world of entertainment.

Introduction
While pondering an introduction for this book, I came across a few ideas, but I believe a selection from a forthcoming book: Lyrics, Poems and Anecdotes: The Notes I Write To Remember My Life, would be more poignant.
"…Earlier this morning while preparing my mom’s breakfast and setting out her meds, I was overcome with fear (which is one of the few things I feel), and I figured out it was over whether the haiku book would suck. Then I realized that I was caring for my mom who now depends on me.
