The Olive Tree Prophecy - Michael Oldham
Chapter One
Speak Lord, Thy Servant Heareth
Adam and Eve, as their lives began, could speak to God as they walked with Him in the cool of the day in the Garden of Eden. However, after the fall of man, God no longer spoke to mankind like He did in the Garden. He would only speak to their offspring through the prophets that He chose.
Hebrews 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
But when Jesus showed up, God spoke to us by His son!
Hebrews 1: 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son,
When Jesus walked the earth, the people at that time experienced God, in the form of His Son Jesus, communicating to them directly.
Jesus speaking to his disciples:
John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.
So, we can see in the scriptures from the mouth of Jesus himself exactly how God would speak to us in the future, after Jesus ascended into heaven. That leads us to today where we are to be led by God’s Holy Spirit! There is not a Christian pastor alive that would dispute this fact. So, my question to you is, How are you being led by the Holy Spirit of God? Who taught you how to do this? Do you know the voice of the Holy Spirit when He speaks to you? Are you even listening?
I have worked as a worship leader and a pastor in churches for many years. As I learned this trade, I would mimic what I knew others in my field were doing to hear God’s leading. Years ago I knew a pastor that would spend the first hour of every day in personal time. He would be alone in his office, doing his best to seek God. He was not to be disturbed until he came out and announced the start of the rest of his day! As I grew in the ministry, I would spend this personal time with God also. I would listen to music, read the scriptures and speak to God, seeking the next worship list and sermon. So I disciplined, or trained myself in a lifestyle of doing this. On the occasions that I was not able to spend this time before the next service, I would usually be very disappointed at what was sung or even spoken during that particular service. It became very apparent to me that God needed to be in charge of those moments of my life. After all, that was my career!
Now, the things contained in this book are not just for up and coming worship leaders or pastors. They are for everyone who has ever called upon the name of the Lord God. You see, if the men and women who are called to edify the body of Christ see this as an immensely important function in their calling, then why don’t the rest of God’s people also see it as immensely important for their lives as well?
I Corinthians 4:1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
I Corinthians 6:19 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
I Corinthians 7:23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
This book contains a prophecy that informs the people of God that He is coming again soon! He is returning for a glorious bride without spot or wrinkle. In this prophecy, God showed me that His bride was not ready for that wonderful day! We are all wondering about the elaborate wedding that God has prepared for us. God has been preparing it for us for quite some time now. We have all heard about the streets of gold and doors made of solid pearl. Most Christians are just waiting for the eastern sky to split and then they will be changed in the twinkling of an eye to be caught up into Heaven to be with the Lord. But, read the parable that Jesus spoke about the ten virgins in Matthew chapter 25. All ten are virgins, so they have the right to go to the wedding. But five of them get left behind. They failed to prepare for the groom, didn’t they? Right now is your time to prepare yourself for Him! So what is it that God would have us to do to prepare ourselves for Him? That is the message of this prophecy! He is calling for each of us to draw closer to Him than ever before! He has much to say to you about putting on your wedding garments, if you will listen to Him. The problem is this… Most of us are not disciplined to know His voice.
The majority of the Christians that I know will make life-changing decisions with God in mind, never really knowing what He is interested in them doing. They will ask God for His blessing. They might even go and speak to their pastor. They may even go to other friends that they have in Christ. But they never really hear from the Holy Spirit. So they forge ahead with their plans, thinking that if it is a godly decision, then it will succeed and if it is not, then it will fail. Either way, God becomes responsible to fix anything that they throw His way. If that has ever been you, be careful. You may one day hear God speak to you a quote from your very own Bible that is found in Matthew 7:23 where Jesus said, I never knew you.
If that is how you are being led by the Holy Spirit in your life, then you need to read on and begin to understand and learn the discipline of listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit of God in your life.
Now I want to talk to you about something that is buzzing in the ears of most Christians in the church world today. It’s revival. As a Christian you have probably read, or at least heard of the former and the latter rain. There is coming a latter rain of God’s Holy Spirit on the earth. A reviving like never before! But I want you to see this revival in a specific light. The Holy Spirit doesn’t need to be revived; it’s God’s people who need reviving.
If a person is on the operating table and their heart stops beating and they stop breathing, the steps that we have all come to know as C.P.R. can revive them back to life. In the same manner, if a person has experienced financial ruin, claiming bankruptcy can revive them back to leading a prosperous life once again. So, when you think about this coming revival, or latter rain, think of it this way. God wants to revive His people individually back to life! He wants to return for a glorious bride! He wants each individual believer to be strong in His will and walking in the power of His might! I mean YOU! God is speaking to you every day. Didn’t you just read in this book that you are bought with a price? Well the payment was the blood of Jesus Christ! You are not your own, you are God’s property. Being led by His Holy Spirit is the key! Part of what is written in this prophecy is to get you thinking about how God sees mankind. But the latter part of this book deals with the nuts and bolts about being led by the Holy Spirit. My prayer is that this book will stir you to revival. Revive your spirit by disciplining yourself to hear the voice of God through His Holy Spirit!
Chapter Two
The Prophecy
The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ! There will never be a more important day in history for those who believe! It is referred to as the catching away of the bride of Christ. The day when the dead in Christ will rise and those who remain will be changed in a twinkling of an eye. Then together we will rise and meet Him in the sky! If you stop and meditate on this spectacular day, you can easily become overjoyed at its enormity.
We who remain alive until His coming should have a genuine excitement in anticipation of the return of Jesus Christ. The first few generations of people who believed on the Lord Jesus, after His death, burial and resurrection, lived in anticipation of His return daily! The news of what He had done and what He had preached was still ringing in their ears. The ones that saw Him taken up out of their sight remembered the promise by an angel that He would one-day return to take those faithful followers along with Him to Heaven. This was an anticipation that was ignited in the lives of every believer of the first church. Through the years it has smoldered to a glowing ember that is tucked away in the minds of all of His followers today. It is still alive, but it has lost a great deal of its intensity!
The revival that you hear about today, buzzing through the churches around the world is that of an awakening of that same anticipation. I tell you that recently I have heard from God the news of His return as being very soon. It is time for every believer to take out that smoldering coal of hope and fan it and feed it until the fire burns
