About this ebook
Then come inside for the real meal.
THE NEW KKK
Kids killing kids,
Killing not knowing the meaning of life,
Kreating strife with a gun or a knife
RIVER OF JORDAN
No one flew to the rim like him,
Curled straight hair way he flew thru the air
I HAVE A DREAM
The dream of how Ill be judged,
Really I dont care,
Im not ashamed of my hair
INTERVENTION
As spring produces flowery growth,
Cosmic kindness joined us both,
In time, and place, and circumstance,
And miracle of new romance.
DOUBT
You see the sun, still you ask,
Will I bake, or will I bask?

DEDICATION
I thank all the poets who have given their poetry to the world, especially Nikki Giovanni, Maya Angelou, Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, and Hafez, my favorites. I also thank Smokey Robinson, Tupac, and all those who put music to their poetry. I have learned from, been inspired by, and derived great pleasure from their works. For all the poets who have not had time to write their poems down, I have read them and enjoyed them. I hope you will enjoy reading about some of the things I have overheard you saying, and some of the things I’ve seen you do.

THE NEW KKK *
Kids killing kids,
Killing not knowing
The meaning of life,
Kreating strife
With a gun or a knife,
Kaught up,
Baby momma drama,
No husband or wife,
Want to be real,
Kooking in kitchens,
Not serving meals,
Don’t have a job but work as
Actors in the worst movie made,
Playing the part but not getting paid.
There was no one around to tell you
What you could really be,
So you play the game the same
As you see it played on T.V.,
Tragic imitations,
Self-fulfilled prophecies
Of limitations,
Angry tones,
No safe haven among your own,
Why you kannot learn in school,
Konversations far too cruel,
A mean mode, silly notion,
Sick devotion to some krazy kode,
That’s only real in the video,
And fake dreams burst like balloons,
From illusions created
By klip klop buffoons.

OBAMA! *
Loved seeing Barack get elected,
Change is a mysterious thing.
Was it we, or he,
That reached the mountain top?
Used to feel that way about Ali,
Victories nourished me.
Still have my own mountains to climb,
Must find my reason for living,
My rhythm, my rhyme,
But this was a moment in time,
The pyramid on the dollar bill
And the all seeing eye,
Why should anyone be surprised,
The march on Washington was a prophecy,
But is this the promised land,
Do I get my forty acres and a mule?
Let’s get real.
Sam Cooke also had a prophecy,
Seal reminded us recently,
A change is gonna come.
After his buddy got arrested, Obama said:
The Cambridge police acted stupidly.
Before that, I was beginning
To wonder why I cried.
Firsts
don’t quench my thirst,
That First 100 days
speech
Got stuck in my throat,
High tide lifts all boats
don’t float
When I’m stuck on dry land
With only lines in my hand.
If the Gates fiasco was a teachable moment,
Here’s what I learned:
As a role model for my son,
