About this ebook

At 22 years of age, Captain Carranza was considered The Mexican Lindbergh for his long-distance flights. Not only was he a pilot, but also a military man.
In 1928, Captain Carranza set his goals in the The Goodwill Flight.

Once completed his flight from Mexico City to Washington, DC the young wouldn't fly back in the middle of a bad storm if it wasn't for a telegram from General Amaro ordering to go back to Mexico immediately. His plane crashed shortly after he departed.

Thanks to the Legion Post of Mount Holly, NJ every first weekend of July, there's a ceremony in memory of The Mexican Lindbergh.

We believe that there should be more biographies on extraordinary men and women that are not in existence at the present time in book form. As minority writers, we are aware that there are not many Latino biographies and we'd like to close that gap of information.

    A TRAVELING CHILDHOOD

On December 9, 1905, Emilio Carranza Rodriguez was born in Mexico in Villa Ramos Arizpe, a small village in the northern state of Coahuila. He was the fourth child born to Sebastian Carranza Cepeda and Maria Dolores Rodriguez Gomez. Emilio and his family lived there until 1911 when the Mexican Revolution, which actually began November 20, 1910, escalated and became a threat to his family. His father, Don Sebastian, to protect his family from the armed struggle moved his wife and children Estela, Sebastian, Marietta, Jose, Emilio Guadalupe and Emilia to San Antonio, Texas in the United States of America.

    President Venustiano Carranza

Six years later, Emilio’s great uncle General Venustiano Carranza became the first constitutional president of Mexico and that same year the country’s Constitution was also drafted ending the possibility of a dictatorship in the country. Soon after, Don Sebastian felt it was safe for his family to return to Mexico. Once in the capital, closeness and admiration of his uncle, General Alberto Salinas Carranza, may have fueled his aspirations to become an aviator. General Alberto Salinas Carranza was a pioneer of Mexican aviation and founder of the Mexican School of Aviation.

The 12-year old Emilio loved to climb into the airplanes located in the assembly line and take imaginary flights. He always had a great time at the hangar, and years later, these days at the Balbuena Airport would pay off in his aviation career.

Unfortunately, peace didn’t last long in Mexico. The Revolution that
