    It is amazing what you can do to keep healthy

    if you will Just pay attention to your own body

    and the signals that it sends to you when something

    You will find it very revealing

    Is a sort of history, listing and telling about the findings of many years of personal and historic experience of the effects of different foods and all the additives and chemicals on the human body. I will repeat many things that I think are very important to remember.

    The chapters on caffeine, chemicals in soft drinks and vitamins when overused, are particularly interesting.

    Remember that all bodies are not the same, and what affects one person, may not affect another person the same way, or with the same time scale. One body may not hold the same amount of caffeine (without the nerves being affected) as another.

    This information was gathered from personal experiences and from authentic books and medical journals.

    The personal experiences are mine alone.

    Intention is to have you understand that you must be alert to the changes and feelings of your body and try to figure out what causes these changes. It may save you a lot of pain and sorrow. As an example I will describe one episode that I really think that everyone should read.

    In mid-summer of the year 2000, very hot July days, I purchased a few cases of a new soft drink that the local superstore had on sale rather cheap. It tasted delicious and there were many flavors.

    For three days I drank three or four bottles a day to keep my thirst satisfied. That night when I crawled into bed and put my hand under my head to go to sleep, my fingers happened to end up positioned under the artery that runs up in front of the ear lobe. I could feel the heartbeat very nicely. THE BEAT WAS IRREGULAR. It would beat three or four times then skip one or two. Each time it would miss a beat or two, I could feel it in my chest. This had never happened to me before and it scared me a little.

    The next day I called my doctor. He called me in and put a heart monitor on me and I wore it for twenty-four hours. I went back and they took it off and called me the next day to tell me not to worry about it, a lot of people have irregular heartbeats.

    I worried anyway. I thought back to what I had eaten or drank and decided that it was the soft drink. It was the only thing different that I had consumed.

    I stopped drinking the soda and approximately thirty-six hours later the irregular heartbeat was gone.

    I waited three weeks, during which my heart was running smooth as silk before I tried the soft drink again. For three days I drank two or three bottles a day. On the third evening as I watched the prime time shows, I began to feel the odd feeling in my chest. I immediately checked my pulse and found that the irregular heartbeat was back.

    That was proof enough for me. I gave the rest of the soda to the neighbor and told him not to drink over two bottles a day.

    Approximately thirty-six hours later my heart was back to normal and still is.

    Those chemicals are really bad for the heart in my opinion. I wonder how many people died of heart failure caused by some chemical they got too much of?

    Those soft drinks are still on the market, too.

    CHAPTER ONE

    Most of you understand how an automobile functions and can understand that in order to operate correctly.

    The gas must be the correct octane rated. The oil must be the type and viscosity rated that the factory manual calls for. The radiator must have the proper coolant in it, and the air in the tires must be inflated to the proper pressure. If any of these items and many others are not right, sooner or later you will have trouble. There may be only a subtle difference, and then the trouble will take longer to show up, but rest assured that it would show up. When it does, the trouble may be only slight or it may be that you will need a new engine or car. The object here is to detect the trouble before it gets too bad. In order to detect the trouble you must be tuned to the sound and feel of the car as you are driving. You must be constantly aware of the instruments and indicator lights on your instrument panel. This you should learn to do subconsciously while you are driving.

    This gets me to what this book is about. You are always in the driver’s seat of your body. You should always be aware of how you feel, the new spots and or marks, on your skin and even the texture of the skin itself. How your lungs feel when you breathe and the feel of your heart beating. The ease with which you move your arms and legs and many other functions of your body. You should recognize any change in feelings throughout your complete body when they occur. That process is what this story is about. Even a slight headache is caused by something. In my opinion most of them are caused by either sugar or caffeine. Both of them go almost instantly to the bloodstream and into your system. At one time I could take one good swallow of regular coffee and almost instantly get a sharp pain and light headache in my Forehead. The effect of Nicotine is nearly the same. Some scientist said once, that if you put one small drop of pure nicotine on the bare skin of a rabbit.

    It will kill the rabbit in twenty seconds. I never tried that, but I can believe it. Anything that you breathe or drink will get into your system quicker than if you eat it, but when you eat it as food it still does not take long for your body to absorb it. Your body will soon
