    Blast from the past

It all began on a traitorous mission to infiltrate the Japanese HQ, the night was quiet and dark, the visibility was truly awful, the boat made hardly and noise as it glided through the water. There were four of us in one boat and another four in the other squad’s boat. We swiftly and quietly crossed underneath the rickety bridge that faced us above, there was two night patrol men walking straight across.

As we passed under our squad leader whispered to us, silencers on. We all did as we said and just as backup we all carried a standard combat knife that was so sharp it had to be contained in a specially made pouch. We got closer to the bank, silently crept up it to ambush the guards. I was on the right and on the other side was the squad leader, suddenly I heard him screech, AMBUSH and I panicked. So I jumped out of the bush pulling out my gun expectantly the guard turned around hitting me to the ground with the end of his gun. I lay their momentarily, blood pouring out of my nose, I looked out slightly to see the squad B’s leader, that was my ambush partner, getting repeatedly shot, bullets flying, blood was everywhere. But as I dragged my disorientated body across the dirt ground I noticed the .45 magnum lying on the floor, I picked it up, flicking off the safety, pulling the iron sights up to focus on the enemy.

From that point on everything went into slow-motion for me, the bullet exploded out of the gun, hitting the guard with immense force; the bullet hit him square in the chest. It created a small entry wound but exploded out of the back, I couldn’t watch any further after that. I squeamishly pulled my head round to see him dropping to his knees holding his chest and hitting the floor with a thud, soaking in a pool of blood.

I wearily got up to move back to the bank where I could make my way back to the boat, as soon as I got back, with nothing said, we were off on the move once again, we meet up with squad B to complete the mission, but then from absolutely nowhere lights illuminated squad B’s boat and the members before a word could be said, gun fire light up the boat, shredding anyone in the way off it, it suddenly stopped, quite, mumbling could be heard, then the light moved, scanning the water’s surface for life, we all knew we were going to be found it was just a matter of time, we hoped it wouldn’t find us, but then the inevitable happened, we were blinded with the light, before I knew it I was under water, bullets were hitting the water whizzing past us, we had to hastily move or we were all going to be dead, when we hit a safe point to emerge we found that out of 4 that entered, only two survived.

When I had regained my senses I had realised I had lost my only weapon the m1a1 Thompson. So I was forced to us my backup weapon, the knife. I didn’t have high hopes that I was going to survive this ordeal, my team-mate signalled to me to move in for the kill. So I crept ever closer to the lone walker, I grabbed his mouth to silence him from alerting anyone else, and perfectly
