Dedications
To Ahlani Santos, Katrina Wirtz and Amaya Patterson, for letting me be who I am, and lighting up my world every day. You inspire me every day to be a better version of myself.
To Ellie Gift for following me into each story, and radiating positivity when writing was too much.
To Ella Lounds, who gave this story a second chance, and who has supported me through every bad draft, and helped me create good ones. You have made me a better writer, creator, and person.
To the actors and creatives who breathed life into this story.
And lastly,
To everyone that supported my ideas when this story was nothing but a seedling, and the people who helped give it the love it needed to grow. You are all the start of me, and I owe you more than I will ever have.

The lights rise on HOPE standing center stage, but now surrounded by her bedroom. She wrings her hands, pacing.
HOPE: They’re just teenagers, they’re only teenagers. I need so much from today, and I just- I don’t know. I’m scared. I thought I’d be cool, and popular. I mean, what if the other kids don’t like me.
HOPE walks to her bed, where an outfit is laid out. She holds the shirt up to herself.
HOPE: I can’t pull this off. (She looks at it again) I can’t pull this off at all.
She runs to her offstage closet, throwing clothes onstage, sifting for a new top.
HOPE: I hate everything I have. I have nothing. No clothes.
HOPE sits on the side of the stage in her pajamas.
HOPE: My first day is already ruined. The most important day of my life is ruined and it’s only- it’s only-
HOPE gets up to grab her phone from her bed. She picks it up, horrified.
HOPE: 7:30?! Oh god, oh god, oh god.
HOPE runs to her overstuffed backpack and rummages through it.
HOPE: Notebooks? Yes. Pencils? Yes. Pens? Yes. Binder? Yes. Extra binder in case the first one gets full? Yes. (She pauses). I’ll put some perfume in there in case I need it.
HOPE grabs a bottle off of her dresser and walks to her bag. She turns back to the dresser.
HOPE: What if my makeup wears off? I should probably bring my makeup bag with me.
HOPE grabs her makeup bag off of her dresser. She goes back to her backpack, but turns around to grab deodorant, a necklace, and a bottle of lotion as well. She places them in the backpack.
HOPE: Just in case I... need them.
HOPE struggles to zip her backpack but eventually
