Medium (worsted) weight acrylic yarn:
35 oz white
Size G/6/4mm crochet hook
Size J/10/6mm Tunisian hook (with nylon extension) or hook size needed to obtain gauge
GAUGE:
J hook, 4 knit sts = 1″; 4 knit
rows = 1″.
BASIC STITCHES:
Ch, sl st, sc.
SPECIAL STITCHES:
For purl, working behind the top loop, insert hook under back vertical bar (see illustration), yo, pull up lp.
For knit, insert hook from front to back between and under the loop of the front and back vertical bars (see illustration), yo, pull up lp.
AFGHAN
Row 1: With afghan hook, ch 174, working in back bar of ch (see illustration), insert hook in second ch from hook, yo, pull through ch, (insert hook in next ch, yo, pull through ch) across leaving all lps on hook; to work lps off hook, yo, pull through first lp on hook (see illustration), (yo, pull through next 2 lps on hook) across. Lp (or vertical bar) remaining on hook at end is first st on next row. (174 sts made)
Rows 2-10: Skip first vertical bar, purl (see Special Stitches) across to last bar, knit (see Special Stitches); work lps off hook.
Rows 11-20: Skip first vertical bar, purl 10, (knit 44, purl 10) across to last st, knit last st; work lps off hook.
Row 21: Skip first vertical bar, purl 10, (knit 13, purl 13, knit 4, purl 3, knit 11, purl 10) across to last
