About this ebook
When the body of a young woman is discovered, partially buried in the woods, it was to be the start of something, the likes of which Helperton police had never seen before.
Detective Inspector Dave Jameson, and his colleague Detective Sergeant Beverley Jones, start to investigate, but there seems to be just too many suspects. How can they solve the case, when any one of those suspects could be responsible?
The result is a gripping story, with many twists and turns, which will leave the reader guessing, until the very end.

To my wife Anita.
Without your patience, understanding and encouragement, this book would never have been written.
1.
John and Sheila Mitchell were in the middle of a blazing row. They had been married for just four years, but things had not been going well for some time.
‘Why don`t you just admit it you bitch?’ he shouted at her. ‘I know that you`re seeing someone else. You certainly don`t want anything to do with me in bed anymore.’
‘I`m not seeing anyone actually,’ she replied, ‘but who could blame me if I was? It`s not as if you`re any good in that department, are you? You`re so moody too, that I just don`t want to be in the same room as you, most of the time.’
‘Well that`s just charming. God knows what I ever saw in you. I`m going down the pub.’
And with that, he stormed out, slamming the front door behind him.
John Mitchell was five feet 11 tall, with black hair and brown eyes, and he worked as an engineer at Clarke Brothers in Helperton. The job paid well, and he enjoyed the work, but he had ambitions to better himself.
‘I don`t want to spend my whole working life at a small firm in Helperton.’ he told his mate Graham, as they sat in the Red Lion, with a pint of larger in front of each of them. ‘Surely there must be something better.’
Graham Fletcher and John Mitchell had been friends since junior school. They had both been born in Helperton, and neither had moved away. Graham was the same age as John, thirty-nine, but he had done very well for himself. He was five feet 10 tall, with long brown hair and brown eyes. When he first left school, he worked as a mechanic in the local garage for a few years. He was ambitious though, and he decided to try to set up on his own. He started a small firm doing mobile servicing and repairs. Most of this was done at the customer`s address, but he converted his garage, so that he could do some work at home too. Graham was a good mechanic, so his customer base soon grew, and before long he was getting a lot of customers returning to him to work on their cars, over and over again. Many of these told their friends about him, and Graham soon had more business than he could handle. He knew that the time had come for him to make a decision about his future. Either he could stay as he was, or he could move to larger premises. At the time he was earning a good living, but it wasn`t going to get much better. By moving to larger premises, he could take on more work, hopefully employ someone to help him, and potentially earn a lot more. The danger of course, was that the move itself involved a lot more expense. Not just the cost of renting the new premises, but also with the cost of all the new equipment that he`d have to buy.
Would he get enough extra customers to make this worthwhile?
He thought about it long and hard, and eventually decided to take the plunge. He rented a unit on an industrial estate on the outskirts of Helperton, and he never looked back. His business had flourished, and he had since moved to an even larger unit, and employed two other mechanics. Renting that first unit was the best move that he had ever made, and he now lived in a big four-bedroomed house with a double garage, in a very nice part of Helperton.
‘Sometimes you`ve just got to take a chance John.’ he said. ‘Look at me. I could have stayed as a mechanic at the local garage all my life, drawing a wage, but I wanted better. I took the chance of setting up my own business, and I`ve never regretted it. It`s not easy though. In the first few years I was working all sorts of hours and it caused a lot of stress. That probably led to my first marriage failing, but I`m happy now. I`m earning good money, have a nice house, go on lots of holidays, and life`s good.’
‘How`s things with Yvonne, your missus?’ John asked.
‘Oh women, they just do as they`re told.’ he replied with a laugh. ‘If they don`t, then just give them a slap, and they`ll soon fall into line.’
‘I wish mine would.’ said John.
‘Why, are you having trouble with Sheila then?’
‘Just a bit, but things haven`t been good for a while. I`m sure that she`s seeing someone else behind my back. She doesn`t roll over for me anymore, so she must be getting it somewhere else. She`s such a bitch sometimes too. Some of the things she says, make me feel this big.’
‘I wouldn`t stand for that John. If it`s that bad, then why don`t you get rid?’
‘Don`t think that I haven`t thought about it, but the trouble is that if I divorced her, it would cost me an arm and a leg. I`d lose the house, and have to start all over again. I wish she`d just walk under a bus or something. That would solve all of my problems.’
Sheila Mitchell was a dental assistant at Helperton Dental Surgery. She was quite attractive, with her long blonde hair and blue eyes, and although she was now thirty-six years old, she still had a good figure, and looked much younger.
Nigel Ford was a Dental Surgeon at the same practice, and when Sheila walked into the room, he could see straight away that she wasn`t happy.
‘What`s the matter Sheila?’ he asked. ‘Cheer up it may never happen.’
‘Too late for that.’ she replied. ‘It`s my husband, John, he`s such a pig. I wish that I`d never met him.’
‘Why don`t you come out for a drink with me tonight?’ he suggested. ‘I`ll show you a good time, and it might take your mind off of it’
‘In your dreams. I`ve told
