About this ebook

The Inspector sends Detective Rage to a conference. Neither he nor Detective Smith ever go. It is where it may rain only twice a year. She meets Rain Dog and he takes her to breakfast at a local place. It is just off the reservation.
He asks if he may introduce her to the men at table in the middle of the room. He knows Standing Bear from the Go Shoot Nation. Rage is introduced by her given name, Flaming Fire, which she insists be kept private.
Rage meets Sally, an FBI agent at the conference. They go out for supper and are told Rain Dog has been shot. Sally has no authority on the reservation but is asked to come. Rage shows Sally her FBI badge and security level. She is invited to come.
Rage finds the possible shooters of Rain Dog. The Chief sends them home with thanks; ‘they will handle it now.’
The last day Rage has a tour of the diamond exchange. Every wall is six inches thick. As they are leaving, the holdup men burst through the steel doors as they open. Rage has only one Colt and one sheriff has a police special.

    Chapter 1 Rage’s Conference Trip

It is raining in the one city where very few people even own an umbrella, no less use it. But a few people will carry one in January; where it will rain 33-days straight. Normally the ducks wear boots but this day they are in the boat with the slugs.

The weather in Seattle has a few local descriptions that will mean something only to the locals. Such as, ‘occasional sun breaks’ means it will have intermittent showers. The ‘filtered sun’ means a continual mist will be falling. Partly cloudy means less than 1/4 of an inch of rain. They never forecast ‘rain’ unless it will drop an inch of water or more.,

The temperature except in the summer will have the nighttime temperature within a few degrees of the daytime number. The most typical temperatures in the winter are 36 and 45 degrees, take your pick for day or night.

Last, no matter how much it rains there will never be a mud puddle for the kids to play in several hours later.

However, Homicide Detective Rage is out of town at a conference where it only rains two or three times a year. She was not asked to speak and that suited her fine. The conference starts on Wednesday late. She plans to fly out late Sunday to return home. The Inspector did not want to go. Detective Smith is not a conference type person. The duty fell to Rage.

She calls Home Land Security’s Seattle office, Hi, this is Detective Rage. I have a ticket on flight 742 out of SEA/Tac on Tuesday at 12:01 pm. I am official business and I thought I should call you.

The HLS official covers the phone, Some Detective Rage says she has a planned trip. She must think she is someone special.

The Chief of the Seattle office is within ear shot. He crossed a female detective in an FBI/HLS case. He almost ended up in Alaska checking seals, when he was a little to mouthy.

"Shut up, give me the phone, Detective Rage? Thank you for
