      Prologue

      When Emma woke up on her last morning in Marseille, she’d planned to buy a few more trinkets, eat as much delicious French cuisine as possible and dance the night away at some dark, sweaty nightclub. But after a delightful day spent roaming the city and enjoying the refreshing sea breeze, she’d gotten all dressed up in the sexy red dress she’d purchased on her Paris leg of her dream vacation. Tomorrow would come soon enough, and she would have to get back to her real life. Her boring real life with her amazing job, great friends and empty apartment. Enough. Now was not the time to dwell on that.

      She was walking down a dark street. A dark unknown street, and after drinking two glasses of Beaujolais, she was pretty sure she was lost. Creeping over brick paved streets in her sexy nude stilettos, she hurried as much as possible from the three men who’d followed her the past couple blocks. She stood out in her body-hugging red dress but she refused to tug it down until she was safe. Keep going. She couldn’t figure out where she was because the street lamps barely glowed, but nothing appeared to be open. No stores, restaurants or bars. It was odd.

      Emma walked as fast as her petite legs would let her until she felt the men close around her. Keep going, girl. Just keep walking and looking straight ahead.

      Hallo sweetheart, one cooed from her right.

      Hi, she said breathlessly. I’m supposed to meet my fiancé around here but I think I’m turned around. She asked for the street she was looking for, but the men just gaped at her.

      Why do you need a fiancé, the tall one asked in a thick French accent, when you have three studs right here.

      Yep, walk faster. She picked up her pace but each man had at least a foot on her and three of her strides equaled one of his. Well I’m kinda fond of my stud, she gave them a tight smile and turned the corner. And ran smack into a hot wall of…man. Gasping, Emma looked up, and up into a pair of smoldering stormy blue eyes. He smiled but she was distracted by the shock of white blond hair like he spent a lot of time in the sun.

      Ah, darling. There you are. Did you get turned around again? He smiled and pulled her into a hug. Come on then, or we’ll miss our reservation.

      Emma quickly caught on and wrapped her arms around his neck, squealing when he straightened and her feet left the ground. I’m so happy to see you! Her eyes narrowed on his lips and she pressed her mouth to his. Her entire body heated and relaxed into the giant blonde man when he held her tighter and deepened the kiss. His tongue swiped against her lips and she opened right up. They kissed and kissed until she couldn’t breathe. Wow, she breathed, taking in his beautifully chiseled face.

      He sat her down. That was one hell of a kiss. He dipped his head and they
