The ultimate aim of exercising is to make one happy, through gained gains. Once that is achieved, all is well and fine, in a world of a fitness junkie. Resulting adrenaline rush is not meant for evil, but a drug fix for boosting morale. And nothing clears a mind, like exercising.

    Fitness Junkie - Joseph Batte

    Trailing Chills...

    Persistence

SUNDAY MORNING WAS beautiful and peaceful. The sun was lazy to come out from hiding, yielding to a shitty and chilly day, bad for a good outdoor workout. But, but, it turned into a perfect weekend morning for a sleep in. Am sure I had gone clubbing a previous night, and several dark and strong spirits shagged down my throat. The experience was enhanced with greasy chips grabbed from a late-night takeout establishment. I was a man of the night, with everything aligned in a charming way I wished it to be. Bodies we own are meant to be used, and enjoyed to the fullest... No one thinks of repercussions destined to happen in a near future. Worry less, it was worth it, and I guarantee doing it again. It wasn’t the first time nor second, but I am assured of recovering from it. An amazing thing of falling in love with one’s body, is a comfort of knowing it better, enabling a perfect come back when needed.

Having a terrible hang over a next morning is never pleasant. As a responsible and fully grown up adult such as I, I had to decide, what’s best to do. It is obvious, like any other junkie, I am left with little of a choice, but go workout. When I tempt to sleep in, something constantly nags and dry humps my neurons: dude, get up, you need to get your fitness fix.

When it comes to a fitness beginner, tables are flipped, and sleeping in is the most likely outcome: allow I to use my one-time pass of excuses: the weekend was great and hectic, I will catch up next time. The struggle is real. Let us not forget festive seasons which are a torture for many. Once a festive season is underway, blazing fun feels the atmosphere, with many abandoning and falling out of routine. It is all good and fine, since festive seasons are known to be family time. But, but, why not gather as a family and get a few intense exercises in? Twenty to forty minutes of exercising do wonders, but for a junkie such as I, that’s a warmup. Okay, alright, it is better than nothing, and I appreciate: quick exercise fixes hold my chills through the festive season with family. I may be a workout junkie, but festive season, is absolutely scheduled for family.

Many enthusiastic individuals wonder what to do, to yield maximum results from their workouts? I know, and I am aware of it all, it is not easy to keep a regular fitness routine, year in and out, especially when not obtaining expected benefits.

Meanwhile... Some are wondering why I typed out the above mumble jumble, and could be considering it a waste of time and space. True, however, it conveys a point I am struggling to push across: persistence.

Persistence sounds simple and plain, yet a lot of effort is required in achieving it. Ranging from personal slogans to literally pushing one’s body until breaking point, persistence deserves to be offered more credit than it gets. Dialing back to choosing between a comfy warm bed on a chilly weekend morning, to getting up and working out, it takes a lot of courage and desire.

Let us not forget that being persistent includes times when the worst is at its worst, and the best at its worst. One needs to possess a capability of pushing through it all. However, care must be taken as a measure of safety, to avoid extensive bodily harm. I am not going to cancel a run because it has begun raining, but will adjust where I am running from, when white dust starts falling from the sky. Depending on conditions at hand, extreme pushing of one’s body as a way of persevering through extreme and hash conditions, is not a good idea.

Sadly, some claim they don’t need persistence when it comes to exercising: I will sip an exercise booster or energy drink, then hit the gym. True, but tempted help in a search for an easy way out must be avoided. Exercise boosters are terrible when it comes to improving one’s endurance. It will be wasted time. Hold on a little longer, as you build it up. It won’t be easy, but nothing good meant to last forever comes in that way.

When one introduces themselves to an exercising arena, there is a misconception of achieving quick results. Many newbies never turn up after a few days of working out. It is sad, as they expected obtained soreness from first days of exercising to quickly fade away, and results to be obtained soon. Based on personal experience and storylines of individuals I have trained, assisted and worked out with, a month or two, are the baseline. It is a lie; one can never get used to soreness and body aches. However, this is where an aspect of persistence comes into play. The weak are withered out, leaving brave souls to come back another day, even when feeling sore. Unfortunately, some individuals resort to bottling down pain killers, acting all fine and not experiencing pain.

No matter how long you have been exercising, when exercising right, with an intention of progressing further, you will and continue
