    THE HOLY

    SACRIFICE OF

    THE MASS

    "Oh, what awesome mysteries

    take place during Mass! …

    One day we will know

what God is doing for us

    in each Mass,

    and what sort of gift

He is preparing in it for us.

    Only His divine love

    could permit that such a

    gift be provided for us."

    —St. Faustina, Diary, 914

    PRAYERS

    BEFORE MASS

I will go in to the altar of God, the God of my joy!

    —See Ps 43:4

    RECEIVE, O HOLY TRINITY

RECEIVE, O Holy Trinity, One God, this Holy Sacrifice of the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, which I, Your unworthy servant, desire now to offer to Your Divine Majesty by the hands of this Your minister, with all the Sacrifices which have ever been or will be offered to You, in union with that most Holy Sacrifice offered by the same Christ our Lord at the Last Supper, and on the Altar of the Cross.

I offer it to You with the utmost affection and devotion, out of love for Your infinite goodness, and according to the intention of Jesus Christ and of His Church.

O God, almighty and merciful, grant us through this Holy Sacrifice, joy and peace, a holier life, the desire to die to self, grace and consolation of the Holy Spirit, and perseverance in good works.

IN UNION WITH ALL THE MASSES

LORD Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer myself in union with the once-for-all offering You made to the Father for my sins and the sins of the whole world.

Knowing that all the fruits of that eternal sacrifice on the cross are made present and available to us in each Eucharistic liturgy, I unite myself now with all the Masses being celebrated throughout the world. I ask You, Merciful Lord, to pour out upon me and my loved ones a drop of Your Precious Blood from each of these Masses to heal and sanctify us.

FOR SINNERS AND SOULS IN PURGATORY

ETERNAL Father, I offer You the Most Precious Blood of Your Divine Son, Jesus, in union with all the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home and within my family.

    —St. Gertrude³

    AS I APPROACH YOUR BANQUET

I DRAW near, loving Lord, Jesus Christ, to the table of Your most delectable banquet in fear and trembling; for I am a sinner, relying not on my own merit, but trusting rather in Your mercy and goodness. I come with a heart and body defiled by many offenses, and a mind and tongue I have not guarded well.

Therefore, O loving God, O awesome Majesty, I, in my misery and caught in snares, turn to You the fount of mercy, hastening to You for healing, flying to You for protection; I would fear to draw near You as Judge, but long to have You as Savior.

To You, O Lord, I display my wounds, to You I uncover my shame. I am aware of my many and great sins, and they fill me with fear, but I hope in Your mercies, for they cannot be numbered.

Look upon me, then, with eyes of mercy, Lord Jesus Christ, eternal King, God and Man, crucified for mankind. Hear me, for my hope is in You; have mercy on me, full of miseries and sins, You, who will never cease to let the fountain of compassion flow.

Hail, O Saving Victim, offered for me and for all humanity on the wood of the Cross. Hail, O noble and precious Blood, flowing from the wounds of Jesus Christ, my crucified Lord, and washing away the sins of all the world.

Remember, Lord, Your creature, whom You redeemed by Your Blood. I repent of my sins, and I desire to put right what I have done. Take from me, therefore, most merciful Father, all my iniquities and sins, so that, purified in mind and body, I may worthily taste the Holy of
