About this ebook

From Scribd: About the Book

A midwife with over 30 years of experience, Ina May Gaskin teaches expecting mothers how they can manage the pain of childbirth. The book is a summary of her original handy guide for new parents, in which Gaskin goes to great lengths to answer every question they may have concerning childbirth.

A lot of women believe that birth is necessarily painful. But Gaskin believes that, by following the technique she outlines, women can have easy and painless deliveries without medication. Gaskin discusses ways to harness the body's innate capabilities, including massage and breath work. Although all of the techniques of this book are from the original expansive work of Ina May Gaskin, Abbey Beathan tries her best to summarize the work in a way that mothers of today can easily read and understand.

Note: This summary is completely written by Abbey Beathan, and merely a summary of the original author's work.

First time in a long time I anticipated doing my daily Bible study. It was never a chore but this book is such easy reading; with comments, summary and reflection for what you read. It leaves you with something to contemplate on for the day. I highly recommend this book.

This is such an amusing read! i am not even pregnant/ expecting , i dont know why i picked this one but there is such an abundance of information with natural labor and importance of father's support that modern delivery keeps ignoring... this is so cool. my brain shall retain. shall retain. shall retain!

As someone who wants a natural birth, her suggestions are fantastic and I look forward to using some of them. This book was inspiring and incredibly affirming. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a natural birth, in a hospital or anywhere else.

For those who do not know yet, Ina May's Guide to Childbirth original book is a really thick book. For those who are patient and love to read long books, that's great. For those who are reading this kind of pregnancy books for your wife or yourself or the people around you, I'd highly recommend a short book like this. Get both if need to... the original one and the summary version. Great writing and each chapter is written very clearly.

Good book for general knowledge on pregnancy. Just a curious guy here though I believe it’ll help many pregnant women.
